After the 200k lease is up then they have a 30 to 40k balloon payment that they HAVE to have financed thur a bank or they have to return the truck. Ill keep my used truck, I don't need a truck that cost more then my ####in house.

Google PETB, People for the Ethical Treatment of Bugs and you will find the info for the lawsuit.

Has anybody ever met a Swift lease driver that finished one of their leases? I can't imagine they're making any money as fast as they drive .

Actually, Yes I have. He had a T2000 that he had paid off, It paid it down then took a 30k bank loan on it, the sad part is he had just paid it totally off when he had to inframe the motor.

There is a good reason why Swift retires trucks at around 500k.
After that the upkeep is too much.
Just like there is a good reason that Swift doesn't provide APU's. The cost can't match the savings over that time period.

My ex-wife just bought a car. It is in great shape and she really got a good deal on it.
Many trucks are the same way. You stumble on a good deal, snatch it up, and you are sitting pretty for some time to come.

But leasing a truck from a company with the hopes of owning it, it comes with a price.
When that lease is over you will have to sink a LOT of money into it to keep it running well.

So ... In your experience how much have you had to sink into a used truck? ... How much is a LOT?

Swift is one of those huge companies with so many policies you can really take advantage of them if you're in the know.
The lease purchase on a new truck is quite a scam yes, but swift does allow lease takeovers.
I know a driver who has bought 3 trucks through swift by taking over the last couple of lease payments on a used truck and then paying the balloon. All in all he ends up getting a decent truck for ~25 grand. He's very happy doing this. Currently he's sitting in a 2012 Cascadia with a little over 400k miles. Picked that one up for a total under $35,000. I don't think that's such a bad deal.
