Yeah I think our dedicated teams are still running.

We're supposed to get a dedicated. Supposed to.... Waiting patiently.

How much driving experience are R & L requiring? Pulling doubles as a team?

Sorry for the late reply! Been at R&L for 7 months now. Got the sweetest run of the 3 teams out of the Richmond terminal running to Ellenwood GA and back all week making right at $1800/wk each. They may be needing a team soon to run to Boston and back in case anyone is interested. Truck is a 2020 International. Had 2200 miles when started and now has 153k. Runs great! We are treated great! Showers in the Atlanta terminal needs some attention but other than that great job!

We had only done OTR with 53’ van when we were hired! They train you. It’s definitely not
Easy but you will get the hang of it.

Well, here goes. Hubby and I are looking for Super Solo long haul type stuff (we're brand spanking new and willing to go to a good school). We'd like to drive 15-16 hours per weekday, can drive more on weekends, I guess. And when we occasionally get somewhere we like, we'd hope to stay there for a few days. And we have a cat. It's a lot to ask, I know. We work other jobs, too. So we don't have to make the MOST money. We just want to make EXTRA. Any ideas, y'all?

This is 5500 miles a week. 1100 miles a day. 9 hrs each driving. 4 hrs off after your dropping hooking and fueling. Same place every day.

This is hard driving and no stopping. Don't think it would work for you. We do make good money and home every day. We just got another raise. We are now making 110k each a year.

    harringtona1 Thanks this.

You need to look at smaller companies that are OTR that might be able to work
with you. There's zero chance R&L will be able to cater to you. All freight is time sensitive. All teams run hard.

As for the rest of this thread I just wanna fill in some stuff that IndianaMike hasn't mentioned probably because they haven't really been exposed to it.

I don't think this is a typical team position. You run hard and there is no sight seeing or no time for anything like that. I've been with R&L 6+ months and we run wild. We get between 5300-6300 miles every week, it's hard running. 12on/12off, truck is always moving. We leave Monday morning, get home Saturday morning. You will get sick of breaking down and putting together doubles. Some terminals are really good at setting them up for you, some aren't. And when you have a bunch of short runs on your shift, stopping multiple times per day to play yard dog does get old for the guy that's doing it and the guy that's trying to sleep.

I think this is a great gig for somebody that is looking to make a bunch of money but as far as being sustainable long term unless you get a dedicated or just don't have any other properties in your llie.... you're essentialy working 6 days a week. Always super busy so that's nice as far as job security.

We did just get a pay raise so that's nice as well. I guess its a living wage raise, I didn't see it mentioned anywhere. Things can definitely get a little lost here with communication, unless you specifically ask somebody there isn't a lot of communication from R&L side. People in dispatch are nice for the most part, some terminals are hit or miss tho.

Last thing the trucks are nice and shop always takes care of the equipment. We've never had any issues as far as getting stuff taken care of.

Can't think of anything off top of my head. Figured it might help somebody tho. YMMV and all that.
