We are thinking about going with LandStar. We want to operate 14 to 20 hours a day and shut down together. Keep each other company on the drives. Opinions/Advice please.

You shut down on the 7th day. Maybe part of the 6th.

Otherwise run out your hours. This will give you both a day and night for at least one date night together and a chance to keep current on your laundry, disinfecting, supplies etc.

Look up Selena on you tube. She teams with husband. They’ve been with Landstar before. Am sure she’ll talk with you.

You will have a problem with many agents who expect you to run like a team. 20 hours drive time with a team is OK but 14 hours, nope not good.

If you plan on running team that means one drives while one sleeps get break in sleeper then drive again if you run team freight delivery time very seldom allows for shut down during runs I’ve been running team over 20 yrs with wife we run for forward air been here 13 yrs most time we get to delivery point and have 8 hrs sometimes more till next rungives time for rest without truck moving, laundry, shower or whatever have ran and legal electronic log 8200 miles in one week rolling restart we run as hard or as easy as we want they offer loads available we accept or decline always short runs available if one of u need a break good luck

I ran super solo under my own authority, and it was great. If you have a say in the delivery time, you can make it work. You will not make twice the money. But your operating expenses are tied to the truck and not the drivers, so it doesn't cost twice as much. You get to sleep in a stationary truck with your partner. You should never run into HOS issues. You can be flexible and operate as a team when it suits you. You'll have a spotter available for backing whenever you want.

I don't think Landstar is going to care that you run solo loads with 2 people. They're the people you should be asking.

Whether you're a true team or super solo, make sure you are on the same page about driving criticism. Being that one of you is awake while the other is driving, there might be the urge to make suggestions on how the other person is driving. You should decide if it's better to fight that urge, or to try and accept it as constructive criticism designed to help you become a better driver. It is hard to differentiate between nagging and helping.

My Fiance is currently studying for her CDL to team up with me. How do husband & wife teams coordinate their driving schedules, etc.? Thanks.

My teammate was a good morning person. I am the night owl. People in USA go to bed at 8 or so, Im just getting started, bright eyed and bushy tailed aiming to put away 700 miles by sunrise.

The schedule does flip now and then.
