I can never understand as an OTR trucker why so many trucker's feel the need to speed down the highways, quite possibly to an early death? If the company has you risking your CDL that bad, you need to change companies. O/O's, you don't own the road either. Just be safe, people.

Based on the short distance the cruiser & the truck went after impact, there is no way he was doing 65...too fast for condition, yes...65 no f'g way, the car would have been totally crushed or shot down the road a whole lot further

So "most of the others" were also driving "too fast for condition" when you "couldn't see more than 20-30 feet in front of you". Yes, they are all stupid for driving that fast, but if somebody (such as yourself) TRIES slowing down, well, you saw first hand what happens.

That's why I avoid the big road, and that isn't just limited to inclement weather. Less stupidity present when I'm the only one around.

Yeah that is what I thought as well. 25 maybe. More than likely the driver was already sliding at the point of impact.

Now that I've watched the video, you're absolutely correct. On ice, that cruiser would've been knocked a good 1/4 mile getting hit by a semi at 65 mph...didn't even get past the spun out car he'd stopped to protect. Hell, the truck in the background you can see didn't go much past that, either...would have cleared the frame easily at the speed stated in the article. Looked more like a 20-25 mph impact at most.

    Friday and Oldironfan Thank this.

Nope. Different company. Most of Swift’s day cabs are Cascadias. This day cab was a Mack(either a Vision or Pinnacle).

Swift is actually innocent of this one.
