Any speed allowances much like any allowances in flexibility in HOS become the norm. They become overused, and abused. 2 mph is not going to effect your day. It is just not. So yeah back off and enjoy the ride.
I can’t pass you, so you’ll make room

That's what I'm saying! If he caught you, let him go past. Sooner or later, it stands to reason (since he caught you anyway), that he'll be far enough ahead that you won't have to worry. And if the truck that just passed you slows on the next hill, just back out of the throttle for a second or so and stay behind. He's gonna get ahead sooner or later.
I've driven 65 mph trucks, and it sucks, especially if you're young and wanna run. So why make it more stressful on yourself, and everyone else? Just let them go if they caught you. It's not rocket science!
Fortunately I don't have those issues with an ungoverned truck. I hang back, let the slow trucks do their dance, then sail on by after they realize the error of their ways.Brickwall, Oxbow, Steel Dragon and 1 other person Thank this. -

I love it when we get a couple clowns on the hill by my house. Its 3 lanes up hill. Usually there's a heavy super b in the right lane creeping along. Then some clown who's moving slightly faster takes the middle lane. Then there's the last dumb ### that tries to pass both while blocking the left lane. The kicker is all 3 trucks get to the top at the same time and are now stopped at the stop light blocking all lanes again once they go to take off. Dumb ####s.

Too often they want to pass because their cruise control says they should. They whip out for the pass as long as there is space for them to move over without a second thought. I should slow down, the people they pulled out in front of should slow down, just so one person can save a few seconds?
Crete and Ozark seem to be bad with that. FedEx and Walmart like to slow down when they pass for some odd reason. Nobody wants to "wait their turn" and share the road. There is no awareness of other people, it's just them. -
The problem becomes when these drivers want to pass all the time take advantage of the 'courtesy' of others' slowing down for them, it becomes ingrained in their little princess entitled minds that everyone must slow down for them so they can get ahead.
So they try to pass in the hills, expecting that truck in the slow lane to back off a little but if they do, that truck climbing will lose all their uphill momentum and be dropping gears further fouling up traffic behind for one little entitled princess driver who thought they deserved to be in front of the pack because their time was sooo much more important.Alec the trish, PacoTaco, BUMBACLADWAR and 3 others Thank this. -

Some joker will try to pass an a blind corner or hill in the oncoming lane and it will negate anything you can see on a multi lane highway.

So lets make it a problem for the gooberment to make a new regulation for, use some common sense unless you are a entitled one, then we all should just slow down, pull over so you do not have to even go into passing mode. Fighting about stupid crap will only make a new regulation which we all love.
