Don't go to CDL school until you find a company with what you need. YOU WILL NOT CHANGE THE COMPANY AFTER YOU START. If you can't work 50-60 hours per week, truck driving is not for you. Trucks are expensive and paying those expenses means the companies need them to work 50-70 hours per week. The freight market is very slow right now. The companies that hire newbies will tell you what you need to do to get hired by them. Some companies will give you free school in exchange for 12 months work and others will hire newbies from certain CDL school or any CDL school with certain requirements, like 160 hours of training.

PLEASE do not go to CDL school and then try to figure out where to work later. You are signing up for a school loan that has a repayment schedule. You will not have enough time in CDL school to also do a good job search for an employer. Just because you need a job doesn't mean you should become a truck driver. 80-90% of new CDL drivers quit the industry long before they work for 12 months. You avoid becoming one of those that quit by fidning the job that fits you and what you need.

Who says the school is the best in Orlando, the school? EVERY CDL school tells every student "now is the time to go to school" and "we are the best school."

Honest Answer: If you're clean cut and fit you'll get a local job no problem. LTL jobs too.

Most people have trouble getting local cause they are awkward or unfit from driving too long. I see day cab drivers who got a CDL less than a year ago all the time

Honestly, I think you're asking a lot. Orlando, FL, inexperienced, part time and local? That sounds impossible

    Zoltan1a and asphaltreptile311 Thank this.

    Hi Chinatown,

I'm new here. I saw somewhere on Reddit that someone advised to contact you for information about jobs. Since this is my first post I couldn't send it to you privately.
I'm here in Corona, Ca and I got my cdl a couple months ago and a couple of weeks ago all the endorsements and twic card. I have no experience. My goal is to haul containers from the port LA/LB but my original plan fell through and don't know what to do next. Do you have some advice ? Thank you

I kind of had my mind set on that one honestly, a couple containers a day and voila... anything local would be nice of course.

The story is that a friend of mine his sister has a "company" owner op, and some of her own trucks, and I was going to get my experience there, but I never talked to her, he told me I could do that and I didn't have to worry but now they're not talking to each no more...

I called Crst today but nothing, 6 months she said. Another local is DC Logistics, I applied there a week ago a called back monday, told me to text him. He said it was under review but not sure if that was really true. Applied at Ryder, got a call back twice but needed minimum 3 months.
