Drive 2 hr 45 min to the shipper spend 2.5 hrs checking in and getting loaded about 2 hrs of that is in the sleeper. drive 7 hrs 55 mins, park and take and 8 in the sleeper. when the 8 is up you'll gain some time, the problem is not knowing how much time .

Lets say 7 hrs are there to drive and you have a window of 8 hrs and 20 mins to do it before you're in violation.

drive 6 hrs 45 mins park take a two and you'll anoher legal window

As I am a student, I'm interested in how difficult it is to have to skip normal sleep time and or drive all night or some activities that mess with sleep. Do you manage to catch up, fellow Texan?

It has a 90 day or however long free trial period. After that if you want to use it to check your logs what you do is select a date back before the trial period ended and put in your paper log times to double check they are correct.

Of course if you are on ELD it will calculate your 2/8 splits for you. But it helps to have the times in your head as you go.

The only advantage to taking the 8 first is it stops your 14 the 2 does not, your 11hr clock will be the same regardless, with the 8 first the 14 will be two hours longer, however, you will lose those two hours when you then do the 2 hr break.

Just matters what works best for a given situation .

You posted the regulation for a passenger carrying vehicle driver, not a property carrying vehicle driver.

Passenger carrying drivers have more leeway for splitting up their required rest breaks. A property carrying vehicle.driver only has the 8/2 split option that everybody else has been posting about.
