Hey Bronc Rider. When you passing through? I may not be here much longer as I am planning to head out and see the country again.

About WS; it is sad how dispatch has a lot to do with driver retention. Many dispatchers don't have what it takes to handle their job in such a way as to keep drivers smiling.

Now, that is a tough job, but not impossible as I have had both good and bad dispatch when I was a company driver.

Company policies make some companies real bad places for drivers to work, but usually it is dispatch or operation supervisor decisions that cause the problems.

Be safe out there pal. Keep the dirty side down, the sunny side up and don't feed the bears!

Oh you are so right... currently I have both at the same time. I think, if it wasnt for knowing that the good dispatch is there, I might look for alternative employment. But, when I am frustrated with the one, I remind myself that the good dispatcher will be back in the morning again.

W/S is not a bad company to drive for. But as stated above by Lucky142 they have dispatch issues. IMO the regional dispatch arrangement sucks. Dispatchers play politics and favorites (especially - I'm sorry to say - the women). I've caught dispatchers in lies a few times (having to do with load availability) and that is very aggravating.

Too bad I did not know you were there. I stopped in about 9 pm for dinner and watch a movie. Sorry to have missed you.

Leave a message in the am if you catch this and when I get up, I may just run out there for coffee, tea or anything but buttermilk.:biggrin_25512:

I have had some real issues with a few dispatchers in the past and even though I am a very easy going guy, I just put up with BS. When I was with Marten, years ago, the ops supervisor got me real uptight and then he threatened to bring me into Mondovie for an attitude adjustment. I told him great because I wanted to rearrange his face.

I never saw Mondovie for almost two years after that. I guess I was not the first to climb all over that "boy"! The bad thing about standing up for your rights, you get a reputation after a while and then it is time to go. I was with them for five years.

Obviously, some things are differant for others. It works that way everywhere I've been. I haven't had any issues with dispatch (yet), that haven't been resolved.

It did take a about a month to get one "trained" as to what was expected. Nothing PO's me more, than sitting for hours (two or more) waiting for a load that was ready to be picked up right away.

I don't really understand the out of route comment though ??? I look at it...then I go whichever way I want. I just pulled a load OOR to go back to the house (the opposite direction) to get some paperwork I'd left at home.

With that said, I was only 20 miles OOR on an 800 mile run. I already knew the shortest and fastest route. W&S routing is very liberal IMO, and I typically can beat it every time.

But I also have 4 differant versions of mapping software and 2 GPS units as of today. My wife bought me the latest Delorme for our anniversary. It's not the Bible, but it does help sometimes in the city.

Sorry to hear you're having problems.

Have you discussed your issues with Macon? If not, start there. He's really an easy guy to talk to. He has helped me resolve a few minor issues, rather quickly too.

You have to consider, this comment is coming from a guy that is a complete @$$hole when I think I'm right, or pi$$ed.
