    The scale in st george is almost always open.. the one going southbound on the az side closes a fair amount after 5pm but arizona state troopers love to do roadsides... And from what i know from az state troopers is they salivate over seeing crappy trucks and volvos with dot numbers taped to their door... I almost always see someone pulled over getting a roadside in az at that scale or just south of it... The ut side will also chase u down during the day when open, wouldnt recommend running either of those ones

    Well let’s roughly say that 1 round trip is 786 miles. 3 trips a week is 2,358 miles a week. 60 mph average is 39.3 hours a week just driving. At 50 mph average, that’s 47.16 hours of just driving.

    Veteran fuel hauler here....

    Fuel hauling prerequisites:
    • At least 1 year T/T experience; some want at least 2 (or more); some now will want previous fuel experience
    • Tanker endorsement
    • Hazmat endorsement (where I live -- the requisite backgrd check & the fingerprinting total up to about $100)
    • Many carriers also want the driver to have a valid "TWIC" card
    • Squeaky clean safety record/PSP
    ~~~~~~
    Starting out -- fuel duty is usually nights, weekends...& holidays. Your "weekend" will usually be on a Tues-Wed (or similar). Driver-facing cameras. Safety dept nit-picking little things (you had a can of coke in your hand while driving). Since it's fuel -- it's basically a no-mistakes world. You drive like a state trooper is always in the passenger seat. Drivers "slip-seat" trucks...in most fleets. Some drivers leave their trash behind in the cab.....waiting for you when you start your shift.
    Usually....very little if any vacation time in your first year.
    Just some food for thought....
    I mean it’s possible, but it will be all drop and hook, fuel very quickly, and somehow keep an average speed of over 60 mph. You’d basically have to be a linehaul truck
    You know whats funny, I had already done that math but I miscalculated. Out of all the reasons people told me not to do this, that might be the one that actually changed my mind
    Whats the trucks governed at? Mine goes 75 and i can average 65-68 mph with a max gross load from vegas to slc including regular traffic but not rush hour and stopping once for fuel and do my 30 min break at the same time ...doesnt include any unloading or reloading time.. that usually throws me right into rush hour and f everything up. Remember there is also some mountain passes on the route that will kill your average, I usually cruise 72 or so...
    I don't know what they're governed at. If it's 65 or less that's going to be a bummer.
