    Supplemental:

You've heard...directly from a company driver (@D.Tibbitt) first-hand about what life is like there at White Mtn.

That sort of feedback is worth a good bit of gold, in & of itself.

Would really hate to see you miss out/pass up on an otherwise sweet CDL gig -- all because the training pay there isn't the same as what the 5-year crowd is making.

Focus instead....on the long-term payoff -- & not just the first 30 days or so.

If I focused soley on my first 30-days +/- at Schneider...I would not have been a successful 1st year driver (there -- or anywhere else, for that matter).

I'm not sure if training for new guys is same as it is for experienced drivers.. I was with a ”trainer“ for 2 weeks.. I had more driving and flatbed experience than him...lol
We just ran loads together for 2 weeks and then I was on my own. Separate trucks.. Just play follow the leader. He was a pretty cool dude too.. They just want to make sure u know how to secure stuff to company policy since they go above what the legal requirements are and have certain rules for how u need to tie stuff down.

Western Express, dollar general, master halco, American tire, home Depot. Made it thru all that unscathed, can't work for $14 an hour. Too low.

    Counterpoint:

Given your track record thus far -- & where the CDL job market is now....especially for new(er) drivers -- you will look long & hard for the kind of pay that you're seeking.

With less than a year of experience -- most carriers will look at you -- & still see training wheels.

And multiple gigs first year don't help, either....:(

    Best of luck, Driver....

I don't know yet, but I'm just going to walk in tomorrow morning and ask to look at trucks and to see the room.

I don't understand the hate for the living accommodations. Yes it's unusual, but is it really any worse than living out of a truck OTR?

I mean, at least the shower will always be open. Probably always a toilet available when he needs it. Doesn't have to walk half a mile during the middle of the night to use the bathroom. Doesn't have to worry about finding parking at the end of the day. Doesn't have to worry about somebody backing into him or hitting his truck while he sleeps. Won't have loud reefers or trucks choking every 10 seconds with that annoying and loud ### "BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR" noise. This is to say nothing of the fact that he is free to walk around and be free after his shift ends. He can drive to the store or get something to eat. He can go to the gym when he wants. Presumably they have a washer and dryer so he knows his shower towels and washcloths have been properly cleaned before using.

And, he already said they have every other normal housing accommodations, so as long as it has AC and heat (the only 2 utilities he's not sure about) then it honestly sounds better than OTR living out of the truck.

Keep us posted OP after you tour the living accommodations later on this morning.

Multiple gigs in my case is better, I've got way more training than the average driver with the same amount of time as me. I'd run circles around 95%+ of them I'm on this site every day researching, I'm looking at jobs in every city yeah yeah job hopper job smopper. Crappy work for crappy pay. FedEx is paying 80 cents a mile out of every city in the country. But I don't feel like running teams. And most carriers have bad jobs that I don't want. But yes the CDL market is over saturated there's no denying that.
