Fwiw if the lot is dark I have a harder time backing into a spot if the truck next to the spot has all those lights on. Those lights are all I see in the mirrors and I can't see how well I'm lined up.

    blairandgretchen Thanks this.

I wondered how many people would look that word up.

At least you can admit to having to look a word up.

I think I've told the story before, but you reminded me again.

Winter time west of Flagstaff, driving team with a good friend, we got stopped due to a wreck in a blizzard. I managed to get stopped, in the hammer lane, about 20 feet back from the next vehicle. It was hairy, but all good.

Mike gets out of the bunk. "What's up bud?" (Mike is 20 years my senior, only hand I'd ever team with aside from the good wife)

"Oh, wrecks - stopped traffic . . . Mike - put your seatbelt on"

He does so. I was watching the rear view. We got rear ended by one truck, then another into that one, both impacting us.

We went back to check the damage and injuries. First truck, front end destroyed, but they're ok. Second truck, a Marten, damaged but drivers OK. Couple of colored fellows. We all talk, make sure nobody is in shock or injured - all good.

We return to the truck, then 10 minutes go by, decide to grab insurance info and stuff, take pictures etc.

Walk back to the Marten truck. Here they are, ambulance there - both with neck collars on looking woeful and sorry . . .

    That's funny - 10 minutes ago you were just fine . . .

Black truck, so I figure just the clearance lights illuminating the front corners helps some, without blinding.

Shock is shock. Back in my boyhood I was walking 3 miles to get home with broken leg. Few hours later came real pain.

I have 3 or 4 days hitting the off duty with like 5 minutes left. Ain't that the greatest invention ever?

    blairandgretchen Thanks this.

It's AWESOME. I feel so safe operating to the full extent of my ankle bracelet. It helps me plan and NEVER costs me a dime.

I was looking at all these flatbeds with big loads last night while walking back and forth to building at a Petro. All were parked within the lines, so I was going "No, that's not Blair. No. No. Not that one either. Guess he's not here."

blairandgretchen, Brickwall and shogun Thank this.
