Ok I got my cdl my class room grade was a 91.51. On the actual state cdl test I scored a perfect on pre trip and backing maneuvers and only one mark off the driving test. I don't have any endorsements as of yet. Can you guys please give some suggestions on local and or regional companies in Georgia I live 45 minutes south of Atlanta and would like to try and be home one day a week I've been pre-hired by mavrick but I don't live in there regional driver area and want me out 2 to 3 weeks at a time which I would like to avoid. I'm also talking to McElroy they sound as they say home most weekends. But I'd love some more options thanks in advance.

Sadly you got it, and probably 100 other drivers got a cdl the same week, and will all be looking for local and regional work. You didn't make yourself very marketable by not getting endorsements. If you want local. You probably need to get the hazmat, double's and triple's, and tanker endorsement. Put on your licence soon. Even with those you may not get a weekly home time gig. Most companies don't like hiring inexperienced drivers. So you may have to cut your teeth doing and otr gig. Some of their training programs last for 6 weeks. If you pass that you may get weekly or bi weekly home time. Once you get experience the jobs can get better, but I guess they don't tell folks that in those truck driving school commercials.

Try some of the local auto parts shops such as AutoZone. I know they have a DC north of Atlanta.

If the job is still available, Navajo has a dedicated run from Atlanta to Jackson, TN that pays $150.00 a day and home every day. They have an email option on the website to ask questions.

    Check with Ozark Motor Lines.

Get the tanker/hazmat & TWIC, then in 12 months you can get a local or regional job with a company such as Florida Rock & Tank in Atlanta or several other tanker companies.
