I just wanted to mention how glad I am to have joined the Truckers Report forum. I found this forum by chance when searching Google, and it was fate. During my job search, I thought, "If there is anyone who could help me, it would be these guys here." I said that the easiest thing to do was to simply tell my situation as it is and let God and the people here handle the rest because I still didn't know what to say or where to begin.

I only want to express my gratitude for having me.

Good to hear every now and then that us bunch of ragged fools here can help.

It means more than cold hot dogs and fly ridden stale burgers on Driver Appreciation week :)

Some people get meaning in life by trying to help people. Being grateful, polite, direct as @Firas has been will go a long way to him finding help. I miss the early days of my career, in the early 90s, when I could barely park the truck and walk back to the mechanism to slide my trailer wheels before another driver would be offering to help me. That used to take more effort than it does now with the modern air-release system. Not one of those kind drivers would let me buy a cup of coffee in return for the help. I offered to buy a coffee or cold drink for every one of them. I also offered to help everyone having real difficulty backing into a parking spot/or dock door until I received too many invitations for a fist fight. I was always sensitive to how I offered help and what I said and made sure to agree the spot was difficult which I why I was offering help. It was easier back when CBs were in use. Someone said the best way to say thank you and mean it is help the next guy in need when you see him and have something to offer. Bob helps John and then John helps Mike and so on. I think we have a duty to help someone that wants help. Now many people just want to video the disaster as it happens instead of helping.

I also appreciate @Firas serving the country via the Marine Corp.

I helped everyone who requested for help, and I received a lot of assistance. But for the same pitiful reason that I would be scolded or harassed because he was insulted, I wouldn't assist if he didn't ask for help. Isn't that depressing? You want to assist a man, but he is ranting and informing others that you attempted to offend him in return.

One time a driver really, really helped me out. I was around Akron, OH, just got loaded, and stopped at a very small truck stop. There was only one spot left. As I rushed to get it, I didn't see that there was about a ton of cardboard wrapped up in barbed wire, and it was pushed all the way back between these 2 trucks, so I guess this is why no one took that spot anyway. As I pulled up to straighten my truck, the barbed wire got hooked to the end of my trailer. When I pulled up, the other drivers saw that.

One of them got out of his truck, walked up to me, and said with a big smile on his face, "Let me try."

He backed up my truck and managed to push back all the cardboard with the trailer, and he got out and said, "Have a good night." I never forgot that.

@tscottme My Respect to you Sir
