My husband My husband got the truck ready. Our driver was in place and ready to hit the road. And I completely dropped the ball. I begged my husband to let me be the company dispatcher and I could not find a load that met his criteria. We have a 53 reefer and needed to do 2 weekend loads from GA to FL or somewhere quick like that. I am on a few of the load boards, but still didn't find anything paying $2.00. Can anyone help me? I need something for tomorrow morning. Help me before I get fired.....Who loads reefers on the weekend and pays well? :biggrin_2557:

I feel your pain, I am not a reefer driver, but I too am having a hard time finding ANYBODY to load me (flatbed) on a weekend. Seem's like everyone closes up shop at 4pm Friday and won't come back till 8am Monday??

Flats are hardly ever going to get loaded on the weekends. Best bet is just a long reload on Friday.

Either the shipper or the receiver won't be open on the weekend. Just the way it is.

I don't know if Prime brokers freight. But they got flowers comin out of Miami airport regularly.

    RULE #1 with Reefer.

    NEVER GO TO FLORIDA !

You will turn it into an LTL dry van for $1 a mile to get it out.

Coast to coast is the only way I made money with my reefer. I would get loaded Thurs or Fri, head east, be delivered Mon or Tues back on the west coast Thurs or Fri.
Nogales or Laredo are best because its an easy three days to New York/Jersey. Find some cheap clothes or other textiles to bring back part way along your route. Winter is nice because you can haul bottled water or soda cans (heated so they dont freeze) East to West.
Weekends are great for making big miles.

Well what type of weight can you haul? Some places load and unload on the weekends in Florida, plus it depends allot on your ratings with brokers.

You need to establish a relationship with a broker and shipper first, then things will come together.

Respectfully disagree on the Florida side, yes you can find dry loads with vented reefers and that is a fuel savings rolling out not running. I am not an expert on reefer but loads that are available in Florida should be calculated into running into the state and back out according to the carriers CPM, if a O/O desires to take Florida inbound then they should anticipate the reduced outbound rates.
