I think I figured out a routing design flaw in my Rand device.

And, we go back full circle. You just admitted the logical flaw that I first suggested.

If you have an interstate intersecting a lesser road, with ramps connecting the two roads and a bridge that is not marked as an interstate crossing the interstate, there are at least some situations where the prefer freeways routing will add many miles of travel in order to avoid crossing 500 feet of non-interstate bridge.

This is an easily addressable routing logic error.

Whether or not non-interstate bridges crossing interstates at ramped interchanges are considered interstates by the government or not, in order for more efficient routing, Rand should consider them to be.

Now, if Rand wants to intentionally ignore a logic flaw and continue to provide drivers with inefficient routes after the logic flaw has been pointed out, I suppose that's your call.

    Show me one???????

I am getting tired of addressing this with you. Put your settings the way you want. There is NO logic error.

And again the states set up the road structure... RM is not and cannot change what the state has set... AND NO, overpasses are not going to be changed to a Interstate when in fact it is not part of the Interstate to make your "logic".

You think it is logical to drive 10 extra miles in order to avoid driving over a 500 foot bridge?

Sure, your coded rules might be working right, but the rules themselves allow the logic error.

If you don't understand the logic error, and you are actually involved in development, then I suppose I need to invest in a different device, since I doubt that your blind spot for logic errors is limited only to this one specific issue.

The way I read the thread there is a huge logic error... Which yet again you are blaming the user for a design error in the unit...
There is 0 reason to pass the exit, go up one exit, tund around and come back just so it can make a right hand turn. The left hand turn off the exit should be valid. Heck, it sounds like it ignores the fact the next exit does what is expected. i.e.

Expected result: Heading East on Interstate, take Exit 1. Turn left on the road headed to shipper.
Actual result: Heading east on interstate, take Exit 2. Turn left, go over interstate, turn left again. Get on West bound back to Exit 1. Turn right to shipper.

How is it NOT a logic error to take two "non interstate" lefts, taking a bridge not marked as interstate instead of taking one, closer left to a bridge not marked as interstate?

    Farmerbob1 Thanks this.

    NO NO NO NO

Did you not think that there may be a restriction for trucks??? Put in car mode and see if it routes you and if it does then it is a truck restriction. Because a road is there does not mean a 40 ton vehicle can be on it.

If it is a restriction, give me the direction and exit and I will let you know if a valid restriction or not..

It could also be that it has a Non-STAA route attached to the road...

GEEZ.. you guys need to get back to earth... If you would stop talking about Logic Errors... Don't you think if a logic error in the 9+ years of the TND/Garmin/Cobra then all units would display the same????

And for the Overpass in question... in testing my took that overpass going west each time... so no error or logic flaw, running in truck mode. POST 17 for the pictures...

Now here is how you test. This is the overpass in question. You pick a spot before the ramps, then route to somewhere below the overpass on the road you want to be on. It does not have to be far. If it routes in truck mode with default settings, then nothing is wrong or there are no truck restrictions for a STAA vehicle at 40t. So, below shows nothing wrong with the Ramps or Overpass. So the "Logic" is not flawed, there are no restrictions.

I couldn't give a #### if it routes in default mode, because I consider default mode routing to be dangerous due to my own personal experience.

I use two modes. Prefer freeway and avoid small roads.

The logic error exists when using 'prefer freeway' mode.

Your device should be able to recognize that crossing 500 feet of perfectly legal state road bridge is a better path than driving an extra 10 miles to avoid that bridge.

If you simply keep throwing out carefully worded responses that aren't technically untrue while continuing to ignore the problem, then you are not engaging in this conversation in good faith.

I see your 6 months of driving is far superior to my using at least 15 of these units all different models in testing on the desk and in driving since 2009, along with the thousands that use them since 2009. And before you toss out how it is being a truck driver, I drove OTR for 3 years...

You use the settings the way you want. Rand nor the 50 States along with Canada are not going to change the Overpasses and Ramps to Interstate just for you. Sorry...

No Logic error. In Prefer and Allow all, it takes that Ramp West bound, with no issues. I am on Production Maps. I have shown you numerous screen shots of it taking that ramp/overpass with no issue.

My "Carefully" worded responses are my replies so that you understand the reasoning behind a task.

"Technically Untrue", "Ignore" the problem... hum... You know they say a picture is worth a thousand words.. so please look at all my screen shots and see that it has routed on the ramps and overpasses... They have not been photo shopped

Go back and actually read post 47. I mean really read it and try to understand that there is no issue with that overpass or ramp.

This has been going on since Friday and it is day 6. You think you know it all and wish to expound that on here.... when in reality there is no issue. Now sometimes a truck restriction might be wrong, then once that is tested RM corrects it... but, in this test case, nothing is wrong....

DID you take the SD Card out like I mentioned?
