Thanks Oscar. It just took me a little time to realize that I have to just fix it and make a decision later on whether to trade it in a newer truck.
I think my front drive is going out. Could use some advice please.

Well I got it out. I had to go buy a engine hoist to do it properly. There are A LOT of shavings in the bottom of the housing which i will show some pics.

At least you didn't find anything like this.

Nope, nothing even close to that big.Was that out of one of yours? Story please. My ring and pinion looked good so it must be in the power divider. I'm still going to replace the whole thing, this is something I don't want to do twice.

Beautiful pics. WHOO. nice.
I never dreamed you could get a engine hoist to do that. And we were the kings of back yard maintaince ourselves.
Let me tell you something. When that engine hoist get tired years from now DO. NOT. whatever you do get under the load. It will slip and that will be that. -
Here is what I do. I own my own truck.
I actually create a Pseudo truck payment for myself and put $1,200 per month in the bank.I have 20k built up so far lol. This is what I will use if I have a catastrophic/expensive repair.
If the truck doesn't give you issues and runs good keep it. Repair it and keep going. Its cheaper than getting roped into years of ruck payments lol.x1Heavy Thanks this. -

You will wanna pull wheel bearings and inspect them. If they aare good reuse. But wheel hubs, axle housing, and axle shafts need to be spotless. Dont forget to clean down tubes. Plus no one has mentioned that the thru shaft still in the housing has two bearings in it. Good time to inspect/change and put new seal in.
