Just in the last few days, I've seen several of these configurations where people put a big 5th wheel travel trailer behind a 1 or 3/4 ton, then add another trailer with something behind that. Some of them seem like they know what there doing, others, not so much. If that rear trailer is not loaded right, or the travel trailer is overloaded as they often are, all sorts of things can go bad in a hurry.
Of course I have no idea what transpired, but I know those configurations are often an accident waiting to happen. And if they ever find themselves in a critical situation, even of someone else's doing, they don't have much of a prayer of coming out the other side unscathed. Those 3 piece configurations are just too unstable and typically don't have sufficient brakes for all the excess weight added, and sometimes aren't operated by someone or something that can handle the size and weight.Crude Truckin' and BigTennOTR Thank this. -
I 100 percent agree

One of those 3 piece configurations yesterday in Idaho was running all of 75 MPH across I-84. Every now and then the rear trailer with the big 4 wheeler would start getting a little bit squirrely. I was glad to see them get out of my range.
fargonaz Thanks this. -
I think people pulling campers should be required to have an endorsement for traiker/rv maneuvering and safe operation.
They should be able to pass a driving and backing test with one.ncmickey, Boattlebot, fargonaz and 5 others Thank this. -
