Yea but now he's got one hell of a story to tell. I'm a show off so IF my kid was not in the truck big if I woudlve taken the aerobatics. I'd make a million telling it as a hold my beer and watch this #### joke.

The general public has a great respect for truck drivers? So the people that pull up to stoplights so we can't make right turns in towns, the people that hang out in our blind spots after reading the signs, the ones that cut us off, refuse to move over when were on the shoulder, cut us off, cuss us because were holding them up etc etc etc. Respect us. If that's respect please ship my ### off to some other country. I don't see how that's considered respect. In the truck stop I can't say I have seen the respect because I don't talk to people I get in and get out. Don't associate with many. Might say hi to drivers or people on my way in and out or hold the door but that's it. I have not seen the respect and I'm not a 400lb driver that never showers either.

    stabob Thanks this.

So when you're in your car, these same people are courteous? Really? These same people that cuss you out would cuss out anyone in their way. The hanging out in the blind spot is pure ignorance on their part. As professionals we look out for people like that.

Yes as a matter of fact they are. How many times have you seen a construction zone or a bottle neck? And seen the same 4 wheeler let 4 or 5 other 4 wheelers in and then NOT let a truck in. You either
    A. Live in a part of the country where people actually respect truck drivers
    OR
    B. Have a very diluted view of what respect is.

As for the pure ignorance lmfao if that's the case why do so many people call us dumb truck drivers? Yet they aren't smart enough to read the little signs on trucks and trailers about blind spots and staying out of them. We're just going to have to agree to disagree on this subject. I don't have anything against you, but I personally have not seen the respect you are talking about who knows that may change one day though. Good day sir and be safe out there.

Who calls us "dumb truck drivers"? I've only heard that term on the CB...back when I used to own one.
If you have Facebook or read your news online, look at the comments when an article about a truck wreck is posted. We are highly respected like it or not.

Most of the comments on articles about truck accidents are from other truckers tho...

No their not. Lots of drivers chime in of course, but there are people from all walks of life offering up opinions.

Who calls us dumb truck drivers:scratch:? I hear that term used a lot from the general public. Do you remember the case of what town was it in GA Warner Robbins? They BAN truck parking because trucks were an eyesore? (I realize it lasted for all of a week before it was overturned but that's because they were cut off from civilization) You call that respect? Things like this happen all over. I have personally emailed the mayor of the town I live in about our truck route, talked to a city 40 miles north of me about stop lights and needing a set of warning lights for when they're about to change because we as truck drivers don't have time to stop, also talked to them about their stupid lane restriction that was enforced...speaking of which do you know why that was enforced? People complaining about the slow trucks. And that letter to the City of Lincoln was sent the day after I witnessed a bullhauler take off the front end of a Toyota SUV and get called everything but a white man he was considered the bad guy over taking out a front end but in reality ended up saving a life by not running the light and t boning the pickup that pulled out in front of him. I will say the cop that investigated that accident (which I witnessed and gave a statement on) did show the decency and respect to say this accident could've been avoided had there have been 2 signs with blinking lights, we've been telling the city that for a long time and this stretch of highway is horrible for truck drivers. I will say he was a pretty decent guy and he was respectful. Now the 2 people from the Toyota SUV total disrespect, I see it a lot as a matter of fact. Have you ever read the PATTs website, or read comments on youtube on some of the trucking videos. Better yet how many times have you heard this phrase "truck drivers think they own the road"? So do motorcycles, Luxury sedans, SUV's and Pickups. I'm not denying that you may see a lot of respect from people. I live in the Midwest, Nebraska to be exact, I don't see much respect out here. It may be different in your part of the country, they may praise you down there. For that I am thankful. I'm just saying I have not seen much respect and the general public around here anyway has a NEGATIVE view and LITTLE respect for truck drivers.
