I'm on I80 in PA right now heading towards long island NY and my GPS is trying to route me down 33 to i78 and I can't figure out why?
Can I not take i80 across NJ into nyc? I don't see any restrictions on my road atlas? What gives?
TIA.
I80 into NJ? Need help asap!

Well i80 doesn't go to ny, it ends at teaneck,NJ ^_^

You can go either way, it may be routing you around traffic delays or planning on sending you into Long Island across Staten Island. Yes, I-80 across NJ will take you to the George Washington Bridge, then you will take either the Throgs Neck or Whitestone Bridge into Queens, then the LIE (I-495) into Long Island. The tolls are cheaper to go through Staten Island so maybe that is why you are being routed down 33 to 78.
59EX, taxihacker66 and Longarm Thank this. -
Sorry, can't help. I don't run up that way. Call NJDOT?

Depending where at on LI, it may be a wee bit faster to take 33 down to 78 and across.

Follow the signs that say George Washington Bridge East to NYC......upper level only !
