What is USA idle policy? Are you charged for using too much fuel to idle or do the trucks have APU?

Most have APU now. Some of the ole 9400's might be out there. They have the Icon system. You are not charged.

Most you will get will be a call from fuel economy... but I never got a call when I worked there and my icon truck ran just about 24/7.

Thats good to know because when it is 110 in south Texas You do not want to cut the AC off. What part of Ohio do live in? I was born in a little town named Orrville, about 20 miles from Wooster

A lot of the prostars still have icon, but I can say that while an apu is nice, I had a lot less problems with the icon than I do with the apu.

What is the difference between the Icon, and the APU? I see your child is a Marine. My nephew is an Army Ranger, and served three tours in Afganistan, Eddie is now stationed in Columbus Ga., and is training Rangers now. The whole family is very proud of him, like I know you are with your child.

ICON is just like Optimized Idle. It will only run the engine for a short time to run the AC/heat to maintain temperature in the sleeper and engine unlike the separate engine/AC unit that an APU uses. Not as fuel efficient as an APU but still better than nonstop idling. Usually only runs the engine for about 5 minutes so it sort of meets the "no idle" rules in most areas.

When I left last august you might get a call if your idle % was over 5% if you had an APU or 30% if you had icon. To the best of my knowledge the company did not charge you for the excess.
