Don't be confused by the title. I believe all of the horror stories and the trusted people that I ask. But it seems like the majority of the trucks up and down the interstate are 07' and newer emissions trucks. How are they running them and not going broke? It just seems like if they were all bad and all costing a fortune to run like we hear you wouldn't see them having the majority of the market. Can anyone shed light on this for me? I'm having a nightmare of a time finding an 06' or older truck that isn't ragged out or have way too many miles. The only thing from keeping me from buying a 13' or newer truck is strictly the word of mouth of 'just stay away from them'. lol

Because the big companies buy new and sell when the warranty is gone or nearly. They've supposedly gotten better since about '13, some of us just have some minor trust issues when it comes to emissions stuff.

The more sensors, and exhaust crap..the more chance for trouble. Trucks have enough trouble, this just raises the odds for more. Sure lots of them out there, im willing to let them be the guinea pigs. Im trucking for money, not with money.

Have a Custom Shop build you a pattern of whatever older truck you like. You might pay a little more and possible leave off certain things to keep the vehicle manageable by you.

That's a nice way to say "delete" the emissions.

I really dont think these trucks are that bad. Granted, my 12.7 Detroit was way easier to be around but my Volvo has been good to me. My biggest gripe was nearly 7k for a vgt. I've replaced injectors too at about the same price. Besides that the truck has done good. It's a 2012. I think alot of the horror stories are from 2008-2010. I dunno.... everybody loves to hate something

I think we all like breathing clean air though

Cause ####ing government dictates what to buy, how to log your day etc.

7k for a turbo? I hope a big chunk of that is labor, that would buy me a turbo and injectors.

Because everything has a lifespan, even Old Iron trucks.

Because while the engines were better, aerodynamics were not. With the exact same specs between a Cascadia and a Cascadia Evolution is between .1 and .2 mpg, minimum. On a one truck operation that is between 150 and 300 gallons of fuel a year, so not that significant. But on ten, twenty or 100 trucks you start talking about real money. When you compare a Century Class to a Cascadia you are talking .5 mpg, easily .

Because big fleets tear up their stuff and have to replace it, and they have to replace with whats new. When they are done, their trucks get resold, so the used truck market is heavily influenced by tge large fleets.
