If everyone lies, then why can job hopping ruin a CDL?

No, what protects bad companies are drivers that don't do their due diligence before hiring on. It's no different than bad contractors, car dealers, etc... Customers that don't do their research first, get burned.

Nobody promised hometime. They say "our drivers average 2 days home per week." The people hearing that sentence interpret that to mean the laws require you get 2 24 hour days off every 5 days or you win a million dollars.

Talk to current working drivers at the company you want to know about and ask them to tell you their schedule, pay, benefits, etc last week, instead of "do you get good money & plenty of time off?"

Early in career I had the worst job I’ve ever had.It turned out to be a very good lesson for me.You have to figure out what you want in trucking and look for that for me I didn’t like running general freight or pulling a van or refer it was to unpredictable and the sitting I personally couldn’t stand it was like losing time of my life so decided I couldn’t be afraid to try something different. For example If you want a road job but home on weekends don’t take the job when they say most weekends home find the one that says every weekend there no room there to be a misunderstanding what most weekends means to them and what it means to you

Correct -- winners aren't quitters (& vice versa).

To later appeal to the better carriers -- you will need a track record of longevity & safety that indicates you are indeed "better fleet" material.

More endorsements (in lieu of fewer) helps out, too (especially hazmat).

At their core, all companies are pretty much the same. Trucking is about as volatile a profession as anything. All of those "promises" are on a sliding scale. It depends on what is needed in that moment. I think you need to gain an understanding for the industry. A company may say home every 2 weeks, but if you live in South Carolina and you're in California by the 2nd Friday, guess who ain't going home for at least another week? Things aren't always going to go your way in this industry. If they lie about your pay(as in mileage pay and the miles you run weekly)to me, that's the only lie that matters.

As for detention pay and layover pay, you should redirect your thinking. No company is obligated to give you any pay outside of the primary function of the job. If a company is looking to cut costs, accessory pay may be the first thing to go. That should not be your focus. If you're worried about accessory, that's telling me that you're going to companies and you aren't running that many miles, or you're unwilling to run a lot of miles. Accessory pay is just one of those things that many companies use as a means to attract more drivers. When they sell that hard, it wary of that. I want to know how much freight you got. If I can run a minimum 2500 miles weekly, let's talk. Everything else will take care of itself.

If I meet a person who seems to have beef with everyone in their life past and present, I'm going to assume the problem is with that person and not everyone else.

    Where?
    1. Recruiters lie off bat
    2. Drivers working there are going to lie for referral bonus or to support some kind of ego. Who is going to tell you they are staying at a company that walks all over drivers or pays burger flipper money?
    3. Drivers on sites like Glassdoor are going to be scared of termination; if the site even allows critical reviews.. Most don't
    4. Former drivers will either have insight that isn't current, or bury hints in large broad tangents, or not say anything at all
Name a company that doesn't tell the public they'll never leave them sitting. How many companies don't have reports of bad layover?

Plenty of good companies out there still. Do YOUR homework, don't depend on other drivers to tell ya who "lies" and who doesn't. The one's bi###### are usually the job hoppers that leave for that extra 1 CPM every time they get their feelings hurt. As for the job hoppers thing. If you owned a reputable company and could find qualified drivers, why would you hire someone with 4-5 jobs in 5 years if there's another applicant with 1 job the last 5+.. it's common sense!!.. it costs a lot of money to on board new drivers, why would they choose the guy who's the hirer risk of quitting if there's other opinions?...I'm leased to a good company that doesn't "lie". But I refuse to recruit anyone and wont name em, because I don't want the idiots coming here!

Yes other companies know what other companies do so, moving from one transport company to another is accepted, if other companies want you to move across and work for them hence the promises to entice you to make the move. As I've always said in most cases nothing has changed except the colour of your hood ( bonnet)
