I'm learning this right now. Been stuck in AZ for 24 hours now. I have ITS pro and an alert set up. As soon as the thing honks, I call about the load. Every single decent load is gone. I'm not sure how. The only way someone calls before me is if they have some sort of instant auto calling program. Because I'm calling within 5 seconds of it being posted. The rest of the loads are paying $1-$1.60. For those kind of rates, I'd rather sit in my truck.

I was thinking I read somewhere on here that a factoring company will back charge you if the broker doesn't pay. But I haven't used one and don't know one way or another.

Factoring companies will tell you before you take the load if the broker is on their crap list or not. Some factoring companies give you a choice called recourse or non recourse. You pay a higher percent for a non recourse factoring agreement. That means if the broker doesn't pay you don't get charged back.

Keep in mind, every day you sit without either dead heading out or taking one of those $1.60 a mile loads you're technically losing what, $400 to $500 in lost revenue but hey, you'll show those brokers!

I have to admit the good answers on this topic kinda turned me off. I always thought you received the money within two or three days. I didn't realize I have to invoice every single load. So I have to wait 30 - 45 days and go home and deposit over 30 checks? I am sure you could setup accounts with trusted brokers after a while but it makes me think it's better if I remain a company slave.

I would go to a company like Landstar but my e logs are not 100% perfect and the company I drive for currently doesn't even notice but if there is someone who freaks out that I parked down the road instead of on the shoulder of a receiver I don't want to get fired over that if Landstar is that strict on logs (not sure if they are that strict).
