Bottom line is when you sign a contract be sure to read the fine print and if you don't want to, then hire an attorney to do it for you the money will end up being well spent.

Similar situation at McDonald’s restaurants in Ohio and Kentucky. Up to $18 an hour for store managers.

actually a great job for college kids and retired people.

i have several pizza places near me.

i order from each one, every so often.

a retired guy delivers as well as a younger gal.

the tips some make is incredible.

i TIP 25% of the cost of the pizza, for EACH pizza i order that night..

that is at least $7.50 per pizza......when the pizza's cost me like $30 each

at christmas time, i give a flat out $50.

No fast food company pays anyone over time. it’s just cheaper to hire more people or go automated. I’ve never seen a shift manager at a Wendy’s; let alone a regular employee taking home $1850 per week (Rough estimate of weekly pay for an OTR driver pulling dry van) working at a fast food joint. I don’t care what kind of math you’re using. It ain’t gonna happen cap’n. That do the math hourly crap is nonsense and is nothing more than an urban myth.

    Options:

Many people who leave trucking go into other lines of work that pan out well for them, HVAC tech, Verizon IT tech, warehouse forklift operator, some people start their own business. The point is everyone that doesn’t cut the mustard in trucking won’t be destined to be some poor slob slinging hash in some greasy food joint.
Just the whole idea that “Flipping burgers” could be the only avenue left available to someone who isn’t cut out to drive for a living is patently absurd, not only that it’s just disrespectful. This line of thinking basically suggests that if they can’t drive a truck for a living then they can’t do much else, therefore fast food is the only thing they could be qualified for.

As if trucking is so ridiculously easy to do that if you can’t truck, then the next lower rung on the ladder is dishwasher or burger flipper.

Just for the sake of the argument, let’s say you are flipping burgers at a fast food restaurant and they’re paying you $18 an hour to flip them
Using basic math and let’s say the guy works 60 hours a week, $18.00 x 60 hours = 1080. Before taxes
Now compare that to an OTR driver who literally lives out here week after week getting .65 cpm @ 3200 miles per week. His pay isn’t structured by the hour so it’s disingenuous to try to make the comparison to one who is paid hourly.
There’s just no comparison. Trucking can be considered skilled labor while flipping burgers can be considered unskilled.
There isn’t a burger joint in this country that’s willing to pay everyone in the entire shift crew (Night shift and day shift) nearly $2k a week, folding burritos, flipping burgers or washing dishes

And just the overall consensus among Americans is truckers make decent money. You’ve never heard anyone say…

“Truckers make way less money than fast food workers, those fast food workers sure do make the big bucks, boy, oooh weee, I can’t wait to get me a special license to flip burgers. (A CBL) commercial burger License. Maybe go to a burger flipping school and learn to flip burgers, then go out to a restaurant with a trainer for 12 weeks while I learn to perfect my flipping”. . Something often left out as well is the benefit package. No burger flipper has what most of us have. Where I work, the truck washer makes $20/hr, free health insurance, vision and dental is like $14/mo, 1wk paid vacation on day #1, etc. He’s at least a level or two above McDonald’s, Walmart, and others commonly mentioned.
