You might approach the Army. They have programs to help soldiers move into civilian careers. If you need people to work on older engines then they might not need any schooling to bring them on board fully.

If you run modern equipment, those army tank and heavy truck mechanics will have a solid functional background, but will need some school time to learn about DEF and modern electronic crap, but could still be immensely useful for mechanical service. The Army does have semi-type trucks too. Not sure if the mechanics that work on them have a specialized MOS, but I am sure that info will not be hard to dig up.

    Good luck!

That’s a great idea. Thank you very much I really like the thought of providing a job and helping transition someone into post service life. Over half my drivers are veterans so they already seem to do well here.

Any insight into where or how one might find how to get started with something like this?

I would contact your state national guard to get started. If they do not know who to reach out to, they will certainly be able to put you in touch with others who can get you in touch with the right people.

Should get you on the right track.

BTW, veterans who recently separated are in high demand. A lot of employers have recognized that veterans have a lot to offer, above and beyond job skills.

And for many O/O's, they go through all this only to lease on at a company that basically treats them like a company driver.

Back to the tires.....I have never blown a truck tire. IMO I see no payback on a inflation monitoring system for a guy who drives his own truck and trailer. Just check them yourself. If you're thinking that a tire system replaces a pre-trip it does not.

If a guy has drivers that don't do a pre-trip then yes I could see a payback.
