Exclusive -- Co-Founder of American Truckers United Shannon Everett: Hundreds of Thousands of Drivers Not Properly Vetted

...That just started in 2021 under what’s called the Biden-Harris trucking action plan. And so we actually have non-citizens, just similar to what you saw those reporting on recently. Yeah, hey, we found out these guys are getting EAD (employment authorization document) cards. We found out they’re getting social security numbers. They’ve left one loose end. They also got commercial driver’s licenses,” he continued, explaining that they believe there are actually hundreds of thousands of drivers who came in on these EAD cards and have not been properly vetted at all...

EAD is usually issued to persons in the process of having a green card approved it allows them to leave the US and re-enter and legally work without requiring a work visa. To drive they'd have to be trained at a proper CDL driving school so not sure what the concern is.

I remember having a discussion about non domicile drivers licenses a month or two back on this forum.

if this part is true from that article then we can be sure that it’s not just green card holders that can get CDL’s

“And so that’s why you’re seeing these increased accidents. That’s what you saw in Austin, Texas, with the crash that killed five people and injured 11. That was a non-domicile driver’s license, and so that guy had come in on a work visa, couldn’t speak English, wasn’t properly trained, and now we’ve got five people dead, 11 people injured,” he continued.”

This is the FMCSA definition of non domicile.

    Non-Domiciled Commercial Driver's License
In certain circumstances, States are permitted to issue a CDL to an individual who is not domiciled within its jurisdiction. The word "Non-domiciled" must be prominently displayed on the CDL or CLP , but does not have to be contiguous with the words "Commercial Driver's License," "CDL", "Commercial Learner's Permit" or "CLP".

Non-domicile CDL means a CDL issued by a State under either of the following two conditions:

    • To an individual domiciled in a foreign country, other than Mexico and Canada, if the person obtained the license from a State, which complies with the testing and licensing standards required for CDL drivers.
    • To an individual domiciled in another State while that State is prohibited from issuing CDLs, if the person obtained the license from any State which elected to issue non-domiciled CDLs and which complies with the testing and licensing standards required for CDL drivers.

I'd like to fly a 747. Is there someplace I can move to get a non domicile commercial airline pilot license?

The way it worked for the last few years was like this.
You cross the southern border, apply for asylum, get a social security card and a temporary protection status. With those documents you go to a CDL school , that is run by people from your original country, who speak your language and who help you to pass the exam.
So you get a CDL after being in this country only for 3 months, get on the road without speaking English and without experience of this country road etiquette and rules.
It's especially messed up if you came from India or something like that where there is chaos on the roads and you have never seen snow in your life before.
