I'm new to the industry and chose to go with Schneider's. has anyone had
any bad experiences?
Im a new Driver, I'm going with the big Orange, any comments?

If you don't have any experience, it can be very fast paced and intimidating to go to the STA, my wife was advised to leave after 4 days because of double-clutching. She was told by them to get her CDL and return, but she didn't do that and isn't driving at this time. There are others here more qualified to talk about Schneider than I am, they are trying to recruit me now as an experienced driver but three years ago they wouldn't have touched me with someone else's 10 foot pole.

almost a year ago
and it was a prorated charge, she got the texts used for training.
It was said they were going to auto-shift trucks but the timetable at that time was 3 years. -
I have had my Class B for over 25 years. i never use the clutch to shift only start and stop. is it mandatory to double clutch during training?

I was at SNI's open house yesterday in Charlotte, NC. A bit of a joke for what I would think as an "open house". They had a 10x10 easy up with caps, pens, info folder with application. I figured they have walk thru tour of the facilities, tour of training area, and things like that. Guess I thougt wrong.
The staff in the tent said, but not too sure what he really knew, "he didn't think SNI would be moving to Austoshifts. He said, "the drivers really didn't want them"
As I said, I'm not sure what he really knew. -
My wife was told that you had to double clutch, because the trucks were made to shift that way, I think they want you to do it that way because you have to take your road test in your home state to get your CDL and some states require double clutching. I know a former instructor from from a driver training program and he told me some DOT examiners want you to double-clutch and some don't care as long as you shift reasonably well.
If you have held a class B for that long,and don't use the clutch, it will be awkward to start now. I never double clutched, I took the exam with a full automatic. and then got a job elsewhere.
If your MVR and your work history is pretty spotless, Schneider will probably accept you. You have some driving experience in heavy vehicles so you aren't going to not understand what they want. -

I have met several of their trainers while making deliveries and driving, they are genuinely likable for the most part. I think they might treat you differently as to terms if you get your CDL outside of Schneider but I don't know any specifics. -
It sounds tempting to change careers in only 11 days of school and "1-2 weeks on the road with a trainer" (quoting SNI here), but I'd much rather take things slow, learn how to do stuff right, and have time to enjoy the process.
Now if only that college would hurry up and send me a copy of their curriculum!!!
ETA: The "1-2" could have been a typo on their part, though. They probably meant 12 weeks.
