That *IS* unreasonable. The proper procedure should be for the driver to report the breakdown and dispatch should find the nearest acceptable lodging (accepting pets, too, if they are on the truck), and arrange online or by phone for the room. I have never had a problem reserving a room for a driver with the company credit card, and the driver gives accounting the receipt for the stay when passing back through the terminal.

I don't get how companies can go through life putting extra hardships on their drivers like this.

Red flags like paying your own way to get their truck, motel receipts, etc.

 

They didn't pay for the hotel. The company did. The driver just wasn't timely in presenting the receipt.
It's sop at most companies. Stevens Transport would have deducted lumper fees and scale tickets. If I had not supplied the receipts timely. Then put it back when I did. But I was always timely with my transflow.

Pretty much this only happens. When the driver drags their feet sending in stuff.

 

Discovered that my response was irrelevant after seeing the explanation from older posts. Don't want a post on here that could be confusing the situation under discussion.
