It doesn't mention that on the CDL guide that I was given and I am sure you know that due to your experience which is how we should really learn. I thought school was for teaching, why do I have to learn this before going to school anyway that is some dumb ####.

I know in Oklahoma they word the questions so that you really have to read them because it's how they know if you really are paying attention. I agree it's a stupid thing to do. It should be straight forward. I was warned ahead of time that it was filled with trick questions so I read everything twice and then the answers twice.

Sorry to hear that man, Idk if i got lucky or not but here in Florida when i took my test for my permit and endorsements it felt like they were giving me the answer. On my test this is what one fo the questions was

Q: WHAT EMERGENCY DEVICES DO YOU NEED?

A: three red triangles, fire extinguisher, and fuses(unless truck is equipped with circuit breakers)

    B: a hard hat

    C: extra shoes

I was thinking, really? Most of my questions were like that for general knowledge. Air brakes were kind of tough but not to bad. DMV's are usually bad no matter where you go. On our website it tells you everything you need to bring,

    Drivers License
SS card, W2 with SSN on it, or paycheck stub.
Birth certificate, both original and small wallet sized copy are acceptable
and two pieces of mail with address on it. Preferably Utility bills but they will compromise.

I hate going to the DMV

I took every online test til I made no less than 95% on everyone. Come test day the questions were the exact same ones from online. Passed the whole test 1st time, missing 1 question on each section,2 on the AB test. I got my cdl through a school, when I signed up I was told to study for the test, but 1st 2 days in class would be to prepare us for it. Day 1 we got our med cards and tested til 3rd day which was a half day we came in after we went to our courthouse and got permit. After that we learned enough to get our cdl and know how not to kill someone til we got with a trainer. Yes it was basic training but it was just what they advertise, they get you prepared to pass cdl test and basic knowledge. Not exactly throwing the school info at you, but put it out there because I feel itll fit someone at a later time. too many people think a school makes them a driver, thats not their job. They get you the cdl, your attitude and commitment is what will make a driver. 3 guys I went through class with learned that lesson, $4k down the drain because they thought 168 hrs would make them a driver.

I didn't read any of the other post because I got to go and I figured I'd reply real quick so don't shoot me.

Anyways, at my school we were told to go to gathergoget.com to find out all the information that is needed to get the CDL-A Permit / CDL-A Licenses. Hell every DMV / Tax Collectors office has the GatherGoGet.com sign posted on their door, a sign before you walk to the counter and a huge one on the counter. They make it known what information you need. Even the Florida DMV site has it linked. It's that new TSA check.

However, I took all that information with me to the DMV for my Permit test and they said I didn't need any of it because I wasn't going for a hard copy licenses. As for the testing, I breezed through them.. If you read the study guide that was your first mistake.. Those guides they provide are written by people who has never been in a truck before so they word things stupidly and contradict it in the next paragraph following it.

The general knowledge test is the only test I truly struggled on. I got alot of bus questions. Which was dumb since we didn't study buses. Hell one was asking me this stupid question.

Can't figure it out? Don't blame you! I answered A. It was B.. Go figure. The general knowledge test is filled with alot of junk that is unnecessary to have in it. All the of questions are common sense, you just have to reread the poorly worded sentences that are put in place to trip you up and force you to pay for a retest. (Atleast it seems that way).

Repeat myself just incase someone was too busy playing with the Jake brake instead of listening to their instructor about IMO the most important thing... brake test. :biggrin_2556:
