Im not aware of another physical. I have already taken my DOT phys. and I am only aware of a drug & alcohol test the first day of training. I drove for about 10 years or so once upon a time and did the lifting tests and it never really meant that much to the company. It just adds to it if you have a lot of other stuff wrong too. Just MHO... I'll help ya lift it when their not looking K :biggrin_25525:

Other than the DOT physical and drug test, there were no additional "lift that barge, tote that bale" type of tests. Dunno what flatbedders might have to do, but I would imagine an ability to lift 100-plus pounds of tarps would be a requirement. :hello1:

    Another thing,

Is their brochure accurate that new drivers make 30 cents a mile to start on OTR national, then 32 cents at 6 months, 33 at 9 months, and 36 at 12?

Do their new grad driver's really get the $300 sign-on bonus at a reasonable time?

Does anyone know how tuition reimbursement is paid out?

This forum has gotten me paranoid about recruiters and brochures saying one thing about pay and then another happens. I'm not naieve about lies about home time and having good trucks, but base pay, come on!

Ha, "lift the barge, tote that bale."

Well good, I wasn't wanting flatbed anyway, and the recruiter said it was soft and getting softer.

you know, Roehl's got's so many variations it's hard to keep straight. But .30 to start with van is right. I couldn't tell you what the increases are over the first 12 months, though there are a few.

you can suck it out in $15 increments for 20 days while you're in evo's 1 & 2. if you miss any, the balance is paid out when you hit 60k dispatched miles. (about 6 months solo)

$100 every 9k dispatched miles. and for some reason only discernable to Stephen Hawking, you pay income tax on it.

Not at Roehl. I'm just short of getting fired, myself. and I still have a healthy amount of faith in the parts of the company that aren't my dispatcher, whom I'm trapped with.

Ah, there's the pay scale... now you can see why I couldn't remember all that.

and I thought he was asking about tuition reimbursement as though he went to a 3rd-party school, which is what I was stating.

I have no clue about Roehl's schooling and the hilarity that ensues from it.

Then in that case we were both right. I guess I figure most people without experience are going to go to school with Roehl.

Anyways, which hilarity are you referring to?

I almost went with Schiender. they had a lifting required course the first day. Dont think Roehl does.
Yea the new hire bonus, is 300 Bucks.
I am going to do the Midwest region. Rob said that I will be going to Canada sometimes.

Did he mention anything about the passport for going to Canada? I believe Jan 1, 2008 is the date where you're required to have a passport, which is going to be right about the time I should be going out with a trainer. I wonder if they'll pay for the passport or not. I don't really have the money to be getting one right now, but I planned to get one eventually, regardless. Downtown Windsor was a great time.
