    Hello all,
I am new here and to the trucking industry in general so I appreciate any help/opinions you have on this topic. My company is looking at the pro's and con's for a new chassis, while I can't go into specifics due to confidentiality I'd love to hear from y'all what goes into the buying decisions for your equipment. What would motivate to switch chassis? What types of things turn you off (price, quality etc.)? How does a new company gain credibility to you?
Thanks for any and all help,
    B

I will move this to the O/O section. You might get some replies in that section.

How fast does to go, 3 digits minimum. How long is it ? How much chrome is on it. Is it "old school cool". That's all that really matters.

    SL3406 and Ben. Thank this.

How much does fuel efficiency come into play with your decision?

If you're smart - a whole heap of a lot .. What is your biggest business expense, Ben?

Well I'm not a trucker, so it would be rent for the office... I figured it was an obvious motivation, but this isn't my field so I'd rather hear it straight from the source. Ok here's some more consideration I'd like to hear about: If the chassis easily allowed for access to undesirable road conditions and reduced the risk of theft would that make any difference towards you're buying decisions?

Well, not sure of where you're going with this - but not really.

The bulk of Class 8 tractor operations here are over the road, little to no time spent off road, aside from logging and oil field operations.

Theft, not a huge issue, but usually prevented by other measures.

    No problem.

Price is always a big factor - but there's a wide range of buyers from solo operations buying used, cheap units - to mega fleets buying 500+ trucks at a time. Also CARB regulations to be considered for those running California.

    Ben. Thanks this.
