Tulare still is a fantastic terminal. The mechanics are fast and prompt. My truck has never broke down though I need to keep a set of booster cables with me.
And like you, I'm looking for a local driving job but I'll wait until it happens. And it looks like the Wal Mart dedicated I'm doing might very well stick and that would be excellent. It's almost like working locally. I'm from San Jose, I work in Tulare, and the WMDC is in Porterville and I stay in the state and local. I also only deal with Wal Mart now except when it's time to get my truck serviced and for my paychecks. I think I spoke to Don and Ron once or twice in the last two weeks. So yep, I don't even use trip sheets anymore, I just hand the paperwork over to Wal Mart and I get paid.
I'd love to drive for Wal Mart but unfortunately I don't meet all their qualifications yet.

During my time from 2007-2009 with them, the Fairview yard was great. It was small, and parking during holidays was a disaster. But, there were always MT's to be found, the shop was good to me, showers were pretty clean and they let me take the truck home so I never had to commute on my own dime. I was well taken care of, and they were good to me and my family.
I also had a great dispatcher who kept me busy, and always running "through the door." As the drivers who know about Fairview 7 Western is far fetched. More like I-5 dedicated. I saw home A LOT! And I loved it. I did my 10 at home, at the very least hung out with the family for a couple hours every 5-6 days if I stayed on the 5. I'd get a wild hare up my you know what sometimes to go East, but that was on my own discretion. I knew the consequences of going East and being stuck there, luckily being former Navy I always managed to get ahold of an old shipmate somewhere close and see them.
As said, I can only speak for Fairview. -

Any info on the Denver yard? I live in Denver and I'm considering Knight because I might actually get home when I want to. Right now, I drive for Roehl and was supposed to be home 2 days ago. I'm in southern IL heading to Atlanta tomorrow. Then I have a load from Atlanta going back to Denver for a live unload 4 days later. Ummm,, 8 days late getting home and 4 days to go 1550 miles? Does anyone see anything wrong with this picture? I have 6 years experience and Knight said they would start me at .36 cpm on whatever the sliding scale is. I just need about 2200 miles a week to be happy. I was told I could run either east or west, my choice. I'm used to Northeast and Midwest running, so if I really can keep running in those areas, that would be good. Also, I'm probably going to do the 14/7 deal. So if anyone can tell me about the Denver yard and any opinions about what I'm considering, I would be grateful!
Yes, I know I could make alot more money elsewhere, actually, I make more where I am now, but Roehl doesn't have enough freight going to Denver to get me home. My driveway is also cracked to hell from parking my truck on it. I would really like to keep it in a company yard instead.
The equipment. Right now I'm in a 2012 cascadia that I got with 236 miles on it and the plastic still on the seats. I have driven everything from a Volvo with 900,000+ miles on it to an old International, to a sweet 379 Pete. What does Knight run? I guess as long as it doesn't break, that's all I really care about.

Well with 6 years I think you can do better than Knight. I'll assume you haven't read the volumes of info here on how terrible Knight is. You should look into that American Furniture Co on I-25. Looks like they have a few hundred trucks at least. Irregular route one way freight can be sketchy with the best of companies and Knight is one of the worst. Smaller private fleets run their trucks more efficiently and usually don't view their drivers as disposable tools.
