After reading all the info here on Knight, it makes my problems at Roehl seem really small. I think after doing the research, I'll just stay at Roehl. I don't sit waiting for loads. I don't go hunting for empties. I get 2400 - 2600 miles a week consistently. The only issue has been getting home when I want, but I do still get home and the hometime policy is the best I have seen anywhere. I was interested in Knight because they have a yard in Denver where I live, but I don't think all the issues that I have read Knight drivers have make it worth it for me to have a yard in my hometown. If anyone is interested in driving for a company where the drivers actually LIKE their their company, check out the Roehl forum.
I'm not some weird troll or anything, I actually applied at Knight and was researching it. Just can't believe some of the things Knight drivers have to deal with. Wow. I did see a few posts that said as drivers for Knight they were happy and not having problems, but those were far outnumbered by the posts about sitting and not getting miles.
Can't bring myself to leave a company I love even if I am late getting home sometimes.
If anyone is interested, I would be happy to tell all I can about Roehl in a PM.
To all Knight drivers, GOOD LUCK! -
As for sitting, it's the ones that's not willing to go the extra mile that often lands into problems. My DM bends over backwards for his best drivers. This goes for every company out there. There are special cases though, like CR England.
That being said the main issues I have with knight is health insurance and domestic partnership related. Which is enough to make me want to quit.skyviper73 Thanks this. -

Yes, a strong work ethic is needed to be successful just about anywhere you work, unless you're a politician or lawyer. -
Well, my personal experience with Knight & 'work ethic,' as I was born & bred with such to the nth degree, both having a military dad as well as being in the military myself; and it is Knight that takes advantage of ppl with good work ethics. They use terms like "Professional Driver,' etc. to accomplish 'their mission.' I did a lot of 'free stuff' for them the 1st 3 yrs I was there, but it never paid off in the long run. DM's changed, and ppl ended up treating you just like another 'no-name' just starting out with them. A 'good work ethic' has mainly a personal reward, as having good character and being able to sleep with a good conscience.....but it seems that 'slackers' are popular these days; you know, living off other's efforts.. -
