Perhaps a means of night time vehicle tracking as opposed to star light optics. That data then uploaded to a dbase to be jointly accessed across state lines. Think of the cameras at any major bp check point. IOW if you drive legal you have nothing to worry about, else break out the tinfoil.
Infrared cameras at scales in IL, MO, UT, NM, AZ, NE, IA, so on...

The only things you are obligated to show them are your license, medical card, insurance, registration, IFTA, permits, and log book. And if you have e-logs, the card that has instructions on it. Oh, and of course the BOLs if loaded.
Everything else is voluntary or not to be done without a warrant or consent to search your vehicle.
Even if you are 100% legal with nothing to hide, you have rights. Do not let a badge infringe on your constitutional rights.Last edited: Nov 19, 2016
MachoCyclone, diesel drinker, mtoo and 2 others Thank this. -
IBM has a product they market to law enforcement, it reads anything it can find in a video stream, notes the date/time, and location. The video feed can be a stationary camera, dashcam, bodycam, or any other camera that can records and stream video. Not only can it read your license number, DOT, MC, Trailer Number, or Company name and catalog it for lookups, but they can also take your picture, store it, and allow them to search for you using facial recognition.
EZ Money Thanks this. -
So essentially ALL scales that can see the trucks talk to one another with a massive database comparing individual and all trucks against each other's times each and every truck comes into view.
Frightening. -
Yes, all under the guise of making us all safer.

Here is the marketing video.
Dale thompson Thanks this. -
So why??? require us to use ELD. Just an added expense for no reason, except to pad someone's pocket. Not for safety that's for sure.
MachoCyclone, Big_D409, bzinger and 2 others Thank this. -
You can thank your peers that have failed to abide by simple regulations for decades under the guise of "freedom" or "its a game" for the rise of elds.UsualSuspect Thanks this.

MY point. IF the Government can use all these recording devises to track my/our movement, WHY do I/We need to spend extra money to record our trails electronically!
Let me use cheap paper and they can enforce the rules as they are.
I have a friend that is required to use an ELD and he just unplugs his when ever the need arises. -
the cop who wrote me up showed photos of my truck just entering AZ (Cali border) weight station and at San Jon, NM - eastbound. Photos were b&w , I would say greyscale but they were clear. Each location had two photos there with time stamp on them. He also showed me 8 day old one at I-40 westbound just before scale (one photo) . I remember that day I had bypass sign and did not enter scale. He searched by my license plate not dot number. There must be some kind of software which will read the license plate number and sort it in data base. I know ABBY is a software that reads scanned pages.
