I haven't used my jetpack in over two months.I accidentally washed it with my laundry and I'm not buying another one .I'm on the 5g plan and used around three gigabits.what uses a lot of data is videos and downloading.but the forum checking my email that sort of thing uses very little data.if I wanna go to youtube install important updates or get tired of using my phone to get online I use free wify that's only a mile from my house.

That's split down the middle, some do, some dont. Some say for safety and log related reasons they would pay, some would say it's the driver because he didn't trip plan properly

    I'm just a company driver.
I use my phone as Hotspot. And it makes no difference to me if a TS has free WiFi or paid.
    I won't bother with it.
My Cell Service is usually faster anyway.

You would have to have full T3 service to satisfy the streaming wants of truckers at a large truck stop. Just a few streaming YouTube, porn, and other movie streaming services and a T1 and poor wifi service and nobody is happy.

Most who just want basic email access and web browsing will use their smart phone tether.

I would suggest a small fee for Internet access and then make sure it is accessible from anywhere in your parking lot which is not difficult to do with repeaters. Otherwise, like somebody else said the coverage will be spotty and the drivers will get irritated quickly if they pay for a service that either doesn't work or doesn't work well.

True.... and while $2.99 for an hour of high speed service doesn't "sound" expensive for someone just wanting to kill an enjoyable hour before bedtime. ... that equates to $72 per day and my brain calculates that way and refuses to pay exorbitant fees inflated on short term usage.

The last time I checked at one of the big chain TS (long ago) their hourly fees were very similar to this. I'm not in truck stops every day , so the "year plan" is not sensible either... not to mention that who knows where I'll be any given night. I don't stop an hour early just to have a particular colored neon sign buzzing above my head.

I'm in hotels a lot , and even there unless it's premium service the WiFi is often spotty. I normally rely on my 4G. It never let's me down , and at the most I buy 2 additional gigs at a cost of $30... usually only one. Expanding my plan isn't cost effective.

WiFi is great as a supplement, but as cellular data rates improve and more companies lift their data caps (curse you American Telephone & Telegraph!!) offering a pay-go wifi with low connection speeds is going to look like installing rotary dial pay phones.

But the best way to invest in a truck stop is bathroom facilities. I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times, if you have bathrooms on both sides of the lot, the instances of "going" on the pavement drops dramatically. And trucks don't bunch up on one side of the lot.

I dunno who Y'all are talking about but I'm lucky my company even pays-reimburses tolls....wow, asking them to pay for work related Internet would be laughable.

U know what they could do to improve their business? AND won't even cost them a dime......customer service...actually serve the customer. Be servant minded...which I think is a lost art.
