Most of them seem to require about 100 watts give or take according to the package. So a 1000 to 1200 watt should be fine for just a refrigerator and cooking appliances

So really anything less than 1250 to 1500 is pushing it. I also have the option of a company in Jackson that has just apus but nothing else. I just cant see staying out on the road without any cooking and food appliances.

Minimum 2,000 watt. I have a 2,500 on my personal truck.

Minimum inverter size for a fridge and a microwave should be 2000 watts, in my opinion. Most inverters run at about 90% efficiency. That makes a 2000 watts inverter performing at 1800 watts without an issue. Microwave takes about 1000 watts and fridge about 600-700 watts, collectively drawing about 1700 watts.
Also, make sure you buy a Pure Sine Wave Inverter NOT the Modified Sine Wave as the latter may damage your appliances. Choosing the right wire size is important as well since most inverters by default come with crappy wiring. For a 2000 watt inverter, I would use 1/0 AWG or 2/0 AWG (preferably) with a 250 amp fuse. Hope that helps.Last edited: Oct 1, 2017
