Listening to some political talk radio last night. The budget will be passed today upping the debt limit. It was never going to default all that political posturing for nothing. Anyways, the good news is there are NO tax increases in the new budget. So I would assume those of us that want to pay it now and get it over with sooner rather than later should be able to in the next few days??

just came from the irs and got a memo there that says that congress has not pass any kind of rule for the new wheel tax suppose to be done by nov. 2011. as long as you have a stamped receipt expired june 2011 you are okay. call irs and ask for a copy of this memo i would keep it in my truck just in case.

They are probably trying to decide on how much deeper they can get into the truckers pocketbook

I'm leased to a carrier, they deducted $550 on July 1, 2011 for FHUT from my pay that week.

I was recently at my local DMV trying to get the truck's title in my name, the clerk tried to charge me for the tax again along with registering it and base plates which I don't need as I run under my carrier's plates and authority-- anyway I mentioned the 2290 delay thing, she said truckers have been starting to send the money in now.

..As far as I know, the IRS is still NOT accepting payment.....

I filed online but the place I file at told me they will hold my 2290 and not charge me UNTIL the IRS begins accepting payment in November.

This is just another stupid thing to deal with that none of our elected officials dealt with....

Scottie, JD is right, they are not accepting anything until November. So your company better have your money tucked away for when its due.

I just bought another truck that I'm going to lease on in the next 2 weeks, will they take the memo in place of the 2290 in order to get my plates?

They should. I'd call to make sure.
