And said DOT cop would never know unless the driver developed diarrhea of the mouth and told the officer. Grey area's abound in the FMCSA. There is NO need to broadcast your business to any cop.

Not being officially dispatched does not absolve a driver from logging On Duty when performing work.

Bad advice. The green book spells out what is and what isn't to be logged On Duty.

So are you advocating that driver who should perform work/fuel/inspection on their commercial vehicle should then therefore falsify their logbook entries contrary to federal regulations? Then when questioned, they should further keep the total lack of veracity in play by not cooperating with the officer's questions?

And THIS is an example of how drivers have been logging since some people posting in here was only a gleam in their father's eye.

...and somehow ELDs will stop the cheating. Only a fool believes that nonsense. Next they'll be passing a driver facing camera to catch the evil nasty mean cheaters. Have to "level the playing field" for the Megas.

Can anyone explain how a DVIR is handled on elogs if you do find something wrong?
I am using Omnitracs. If something is marked as a defect there is no way for a mechanic to sign off the repair. It simply shows a red flag until someone in the office removes it.
I am leased to a company and haven't had this happen, but other drivers have. I questioned safety about it but didn't get a clear answer. I don't think a mechanic signs off. They are just removing the flag.

I don't run an ELD but I would imagine it's no different than any other DVIR. It's the company's responsibility to handle the signing off on the repair end. It's an office job. As long as you're ok with said repair, your job continues as usual.

No simply showing in the real world how its done. Instead of the how the people hiding behind keyboards claim they would never violate federal, Most on here are full of BS, and after years posting here myself, I suspect there are several on here that are not drivers at all.

I advocate that a driver do his or her best to make sure there time is utilized to increase there safety and the publics.

Elog is secondary to safety as is the other mandates, safety comes first.

Unfortunately, all too many will follow a law and disregard common sense.
