I pull flatbed mostly from Southeast to Midwest and rates haven't changed much. Of course it does help that I am leased to an all owner operator company with contract freight. People are still building houses, high rises and roads. I just hope that the industrial work continues. I can understand why some refrigerated freight has dropped because most restaurants are completely closed with a few serving carry out only. Schools, entertainment venues, cruise ships are all closed and don't require food delivery.
As far as rates go generally, too many trucks plus a decrease in demand equals decreased rates.Rideandrepair and 86scotty Thank this. -

Nope, I’m dry van. 2 places I saw just a couple loads were in VA Beach one day last week and then Knoxville TN this past Friday. Both much smaller markets than the NE.

OTR no from those I know who are O/O and not lease operators. From the Local ports yes , it’s slow nothing being sent from China. This is why I took a local job for now over starting my business and hauling from the Ports in Virginia, I might give OTR a shot bc 2 of my friends are still bringing home net wise up to 5k running the Northeast. For now I’m gonna save a little more money for that down payment on a truck.
