Wouldn't hurt to put your state of location in your profile; just don't haul asphalt north of Georgia in the fall; we shut down (for the most part) in the winter months, and get 'reduced' to pulling flats / decks~! ((((<<<<<< HAHAHAHA JUST KIDDING, YKW'S~! ;))))) I meant to say 'blessed' or 'overwhelmed' actually is a better word~! :)

OP you're in the Atl huh? Don't know that area to well but tank work is very consistant. Never seem to meet a tanker yanker that's unhappy with their company. Having said that I've never met a prime or sni driver haha. Why not try Indian River transport out of Florida? At least your truck will run 65 or 70

Seriously though tanker companies don't play the "sit and wait for a load" game. They will deadhead you 600+ miles.

^^^^ Well said, man. Well said. Only time I sit is on my right leg on my dome, on the catwalk; loading product. MAX wait....ten minutes behind the guy in front of me, and HE was late, haha!

Another good thing about fuel hauling (the only kind of tankers I have actual experience with) is that when you arrive at your unload point the customer is glad to see you.
None of this "wait in the parking lot and we'll call you when we need you" baloney. People are actually nice to you. That might be hard for a door slammer to get used to but I'll bet they like it.

Wow, really? Why do tanker companies do that?

"Sit and wait".....Bwahahaha. I have yet to ever hear that from a dispatchers mouth pulling tanks.

only speaking from experience, we've brought loaded tanks out to Omaha from Chicago, dropped them and BT'd back to Chicago. When they were done, we BT'd back out to pick them up and got paid round trips both times. I've done the same thing to Buffalo, Indy, Cinn, and (Not me) but Thunder Bay ON & Saskatoon SA.

Not sure I don't work in operations haha. I'd assume because the rates on liquid loads are higher. Also they don't want to piss you off and have you switch companies because tanker drivers are harder to come by than sweat pants wearing dry van guys
