is it legal for an OTR company to require an employee to be a local resident

    http://siouxcity.craigslist.org/trp/5159623976.html Did'nt take but 2 seconds and found the ad,if you'll look way at the bottom usx is listed.Could be the same ad u posted.I'm about ready to email these ads and tell them to post elsewhere you're taking up good space posting in Sioux City.As much as they post and the same ad day after day you can tell they can't find suckers to drive for them.

    oh yeah, ok...i just copied/pasted it into my web browser, and sure enough, it comes up as US Express website....

    frankly, i never read the entire ad all the way yo the bottom. as i'd not relocate for a job.

    Pretty sure the Indiana ad is a US Xpress. There's a
    Wal Mart DC in Gas City. Nice little town, actually.

    Really? You know they have hiring areas to suit their needs, and to get you home. You can't work for a company in Oregon that doesn't go past Colorado if you live in Georgia. Common sense. Not so common.

    In not talking about living on the other side of the country but a different close by city, an they state they only hire residents from their city for OTR.
    Plus the going home part should be the driver responsibility

    Sounds like a small company. Plus it doesn't matter if u live close to a city, I live in chicago and theirs company that won't hire me because I'm not in their hiring area.

    What u mean going home part is driver responsibility?

    That's stupid, but not illegal. It's always good to see ahead of time that a company has no brain, that's your warning to stay away.
