If you're willing to live in a truck, why not rob a bank? If you get away with it, the money is better, if you get caught; prison is cheaper (and better) than living OTR...

Only thing I miss is sleeping in my own bed with the wife (which will change soon as she plans on driving with me) my coffee machine and the bathtub as well. I enjoy a soak every now and then, but apart from that I've lived 6weeks straight at the moment in this truck with no time off and another two to go and it's fine.

You can get a po box from a post office. But keep in mind just because you're at a company and living in their trk 24/7,that is by no means job security. You could be working one day and the next day you could be without a job.Drivers are quitting and getting fired every day.Hope you have some place to go if that ever happens.Don't worry about a trk fitting your height, companies will find a trk that suits you.

First thing to do is hide cash in your wallet equal to the rate to ship all your stuff to a safe place and get a ticket home :D

I had the same questions, so thanks for the thread.

My questions are 1) What do you do if your truck is in for servicing or
    repair?
    2) Getting reliable internet on the road? I know you can
get it from cellular providers, but the bandwith limits
are too low for my needs (video streaming, even a
movie a day will put you over quickly) and I gather
truckstop wifi sucks. And Idle air is expensive and not
widely available. Are there places you can get it on
your resets so I can download a bunch of stuff on
    graboid or similar site.
    3) can you get TV on the road with a antenna and digital
    converter?

    mje Thanks this.

    3) i have a 12v tv and a ps3 in my truck.

I practically live out of my truck. My mail get sent to my folks house, and when I need down time, I either go to their house, or a chick I've been "dating" for awhile. My only expense is, road living expenses, my car insurance, and cell phone bill. Other than that, I can save 85% of my income. It took 3 months to get my truck completely setup to where it no longer feels like a truck during my breaks. It's home. I go to my real home when I start getting real tired, and need a break from the truck. I think it's important to have somewhere to go, other than your truck, once you become really tired.

Being single on the road has it's benefits. No family to take care of, and you can meet a lot of chicks on the road. After time, you could have a place to sleep in every corner of the country. :biggrin_2559:
