It would work if the time can be done.

If you look at the log page examples, the 8 has to be taken first in order to move the calculation point for the 14 hour clock. 2 hours will not 'extend' your 14. And 2+8 may be 10 hours, but you still don't have a full 14 available at the end of the 2+8.

You mean the ATA and ACEETT ? The same folks that want to hide the CSA score from the public?

No, you can take either first it just does not extend the 14 till a 8 is taken.

That's what I meant to say. I haven't been able to figure out the value of taking a 2+ hour break first. :|

If I'm at the shipper getting live loaded and it takes an hour, I will often stay there for an extra hour so that my next break needs to only be 8 hours in the sleeper. That's a total of 10 hours off duty/sleeper as opposed to 11 hours off duty/sleeper if I had opted for the full 10 hour break plus 1 hour of dock loading time.

If they take 3 hours to load, my next break is still 8 in the sleeper for a total of 11 hours off duty/ sleeper as opposed to 13 hours if I had opted for the full 10 hour break.

As far as less driving time, I have heard some safety groups would like to limit commercial vehicle drivers to 8 hours total of driving in 24 hours. Effectively every truck out there would be a team truck.

i have allways shown some sort of a break on paper in the middle of my driving shift ......was taught many years ago that your comic book should allways tell a realistic story ....and 11 hrs a day straight through just don;t seem realistic plus about halfway through the shift is a great time to check your calculations and give yourself back a half hour just sayin

near as i can tell you drivers are spending more time on road and making less money.do you really take a 34 away from home for no pay or motel ???,you keep believing things will get better with more govt rules.after 35 years things are a lot worse, money wise, time spent from home .i have been hearing that same story forever, this will make it better, dont see it.

i can't wait for next year. when the country is littered with trucks all over the roads cuz we have no place to park. either taking a break. which is fine. or 52 hours to get there 34 in.

    and a little FYI.

my brother in law got a ticket for claiming off duty while waiting to unload his oil. he's home every night.
