What kind of trailer are you pulling? Unless it’s changed the permit is only good if you can’t slide your axles. And I think you can go up to 38k on your tandems as long as you’re 80k or less gross.
Is it worth fighting an over length ticket in Florida

he didn’t ask his hall monitor for a pass.Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
Are you against permits in general? Or just FL. Last time I checked you open yourself up to a ticket anywhere if you are outside of the regulations.
bumper Jack Thanks this. -
I’ve gotten permits, used to run oversize, but writing an over length is crazy, probably the trailer, like gotta have a California spread axle, I used to have an old trailmobile 48’ with ‘California Sprea’ which put rear most axle at the 45’ mark leaving 3 ft trailer overhanging the axle, and made the trailer load a foot in front of center, anything with any weight passed rear most axle threw you over axle, but!! You were legal, length wise

Yep, and if he’s pulling a spread a cheap annual permit could’ve saved him $100. When I ran CA with a 52ft spread I knew what I was doing, and after almost 2 years running out there weekly I finally got a ticket. I paid the $137 and moved on. I grabbed a 48ft to pull for a few months and once they cooled off a little I grabbed the 52ft spread again. It’s pretty common knowledge that FL doesn’t mess around. They have the marks painted on the scale and everyone that runs down there knows it.
And FWIW, CA has been opened up for 48ft trailers for a long time. No more KPRA regs on 48 and under for at least 10 years or so now.bumper Jack Thanks this. -

Guessing that you were over 41’
If so, you were either a lot over or had an officer with a good eye. Sadly, I see many running around with the trailer tandems slid all the way back, makes me laugh
A. Florida State Statute 316.515(3) (b) 2astates the distance between the kingpin or other peg that locks into the fifth wheel of a truck tractor and the center of the rear axle or rear group of axles does not exceed 41 feetLong FLD Thanks this. -
I have the $20 permit and have never had an issue
Again. Maybe wasn’t your thought?? -
Yes 40k and 20k on single axleLong FLD Thanks this. -
