Hi, I am going to be attending a trucking school in May, my friend whom I am going to team with is currently finishing up her training. No it's not the school I would have chosen but she is already with CR England so that is where I'm going to get my start as well. I'm interested to know if you lease from them as a team if it's worth it compared to a company driver with them. Everything I read on the forums about it being so negative to lease is always solo drivers. Just wanting to get some opinions on team driving for them. Hopefully there are a few team drivers on your page so I can make an informed decision. Would appreciate constructive comments. It would be awhile, not gonna sign until ewe are both for sure this is the life for us.
Is leasing as a team worth it?

Not at CR screw-em! RUN!!! RUN FAST!!!! RUN VERY FAST!!!!
Of course if you're both in one of their trucks, you'll have each other to commiserate with.77smartin, Toomanybikes, blairandgretchen and 1 other person Thank this. -
Lease is not worth it. Team is not worth it. CR England is not worth any drivers time.
I do not know how you could add the three up and get a worthwhile result.
However, England will be just as happy to screw over you and your friend as a team as well as individually.blairandgretchen and skyviper73 Thank this. -
Wow.. you are taking a big risk.. first, teaming with a friend can be a real hardship on the friendship, friendships have been ruined by teaming... second, teaming with someone with just a few weeks or months more experience than you is the blind leading the blind... if I were going to team with someone I wojld want someone with much much more experience... thirdly, that leasing is a tough deal.. a few have done it and been successful, some of done it and survived, many have been thrust I to financial ruin as a result of leasing...
Personally, those would be 3 big strikes against it for me... if you are serious about teaming with her.. I would put it off and both be solo drivers for a year or so then think of teaming... I would also not lease a truck.. if you or her are serious about being an owner operator start putting away money and save it up til you can afford to buy a truck and still have a healthy stash of cash and savings... -
You will make a lot of money leasing a truck. CR England has a stellar reputation.
Don't listen to these negative nellies on here. They're all just jealous and want to be successful business operators. They all wish they were driving shiny new trucks.
OK. All the sarcasm is out of my system.
Don't be foolish son. -

Get out of that school ASAP! Find another way to get your cdl. Almost any other company is leagues better than CRE. You will envy swift drivers. You can make money teaming, thats what im doing with US Xpress, easy to make a grand a week with them. Ive never heard a postive thing about CRE. If you have to take out a loan for nearly amy amount of money, it will be better than going to CRE because the amount you make your first year will more than make up for the loan.Post what area you live in for advice in your options. As for your friend, i think shed be better off breaking her contract and paying the CRE school back. Pretty sure thags what most do.

Teaming can be good.. but, you have to have a good team member... in any team there is the lead driver and the co driver.. the lead driver would be the one who leases the truck... teaming is most profitable with husband and wife teams cause all the money goes to the same household as well as the tax breaks....
I think it would be wiser to team as company drivers first.. see how you are as a team... then decided if you want to lease and who will lease...
The thing to really ponder.. is that most new drivers do not last a year... I think the average is 20% last... so in a class of 10 only 2 will last over a year... with both of you new to trucking there is no telling if both of yoj will last...
Trucking is not for everyone... and even if you both like it and last, you may be interested in different roads.. one may want to go regional and the other OTR.. one may want to do a dedicated and the otner something else..
What I have learned about teaming.. is it actually nelps to be very different and opposite from eachother.. the teams that I have met that seem to work and have a good thing going are where the two drivers are complete the opposite of each other.. dont know why that is...
I have only teamed with my trainers and of the 4 trainers I had only one did it really work with.. he was an older more experiencd driver and we were very different from one another... but, we worked well together.. if I had to team, he is who I would want to team with...
I really enjoy being a solo driver... I like being able to turn up my music and not worry about waking up the other driver tryi g to sleep in the bunk.. I like having the truck stopped for my sleep and reset.. it was crazy sleeping in a rollk g truck.. you feel every bump, curve and turn.. I like being able to drive my own plan.. where with a team member if they get up and need to go to tne restroom you stop and so you might as well go or at least try so you do t have to stop again.... and I like having all the limited space of the cab all to myself.. every cabinet, every cubby hole is mi e all mine... I also like not havin to listen to a co driver snore, cough, fart, etc... and any mess kn the truck is mine so I clean it up, nothj g more annoying then cleaning up after a co driver.. been my experience that co drivers create a lot of mes and trash..Cman301 Thanks this.
