I don't think anyone likes adversity.
But in trucking, it goes with the territory in many ways and forms.
I embrace it. Still would much rather not have any, but that isn't what this life is. And the more you get the upper hand on situations, and don't let things best you, the better and better it gets.
The only time you lose is when you quit.kemosabi49, Just passing by, 4mer trucker and 1 other person Thank this. -

I think we are wasting our breath. This kid (I'm assuming by the attitude) thinks he is some special little flower, and does not understand what it takes to run a business, and that taking his truck home is a privelege, not a God given right. He asked for advice from experienced drivers, yet won't accept the advice because it disagrees with his entitled pre-conceived mindset.
Where you live is your problem, not theirs...period, point blank. They are the ones bending over for you...but you only see your preconceived notions of wanting to "stick it to the boss."
If the job was any good to begin with, he wouldn't be on here trying to start a pity party. If he had to drive his car to work, he probably wouldn't have accepted the job.
I used to haul dedicated from Saint Cloud, MN to FL, and usually produce back to the Midwest for almost 10 years
I lived in the Lacrosse, WI area and Rochester, MN area. I chose to work for a good company almost 2.5 hours from home. I took the truck home usually once a week because.
A. It did not deviate much from the paid, practical route
B. It was convenient for me, and added less than probably 20 miles and 20 minutes of travel time.
C. I drove my own vehicle to and from work 150 miles away when truly wanted to go home and stay home for much more than a day.
Paid or unpaid, I wouldn't think of driving over 100 miles from the terminal in the wrong direction just to get to work every day.
Start putting fuel in that rig yourself for those "unpaid miles" you think you are entitled to, or even your own car...maybe you will appreciate what you have and how small your check could potentially be.
The fact that they are footing the bill for you to drive to work makes me think it isn't that desireable of a job to begin with.
If you won't listen to anything we have to say, get your year in and find something better...if you think you can.4mer trucker, REO6205, Dave_in_AZ and 2 others Thank this. -
