Is Schneider a good company to start out at driving?

I have seen complaints about this before and I don't understand why really? I have park smart and it keeps me warm or cool when I'm stopped so I'm fine with not idling, and I have two small inverters that plug into cigarette lighter that runs my cooler and TV so I'm happy with that, I think it is just a mindset thing for needing to idle lol.

You said you have a truck with parksmart. So you have AC whether the truck is running or not. Most Schneider trucks do not have this.

The problem comes in when the company that is allegedly focused on "safety" programs their trucks to automatically shut down when it's 70 degrees outside, even though it's 75+ inside the truck. I need it to be cool in order to sleep and be safe to drive, drivers shouldn't have to fool the "ambient temperature sensor" to get a good night's rest.

I figured most would because I have an old 2013 with Park Smart, I have noticed a lot don't know how to use it because the batteries have to be charged up and after so long of sitting it will not work or when you first get the truck and it has been sitting it will not be charged.

I've been here 10 months. 1st trucking job. Did administrative/supervisory work in manufacturing for 23 years prior to Schneider. Overall.....im pretty happy with my choice to start with them. Training/orientation is good and they genuinely seem to care about safety. They haven't lied to me about anything im aware of and everything they told me would happen, happened. Im a regional driver.....they've got me home every weekend and im making more money than they advertised (keep in mind i use most of my 11/14)......if i had it to do over again, id still go with schneider.

Thanks, I had a rough start but because they have a different system so I had to learn it. I have decided to try and be out three to four weeks before I go home because for me it takes a while to get back into the groove of things when I come back Lol.

You can find more reviews about any company by scrolling to the top of the page and then clicking on reviews.

No APU's and no idling, very micromanaged, decent pay, can ruin your DAC with unnecessary claims, want you to stay out at least three weeks if regional before going home. One day off for each week you are out, but will accommodate if you need more time home. Be extremely nice to your driver manager, because if you say something or want to point something out, it could hurt your career. IMO, smaller companies or being an Owner/OP is the best way to go.

I have a parksmart unit as well and it actually helps a lot more than just with the AC. It makes hitting the mpg goal on performance metrics way easier in the warmer months since you don't have to idle. However, the issues with it really start to shine when you need to take a 34 and it's 75-85 degrees outside. Once parksmart dies, there's no charging it up without driving a decent amount and the trucks that have it are restricted from idling until its 90+ outside, not 70+

That said I also am pretty happy at sni as far as my first year goes. Plenty of complaints but overall they're not bad.

As far as hometime (going from what @MiRig2017 said) I'm not sure about staying out 3 weeks if regional. I know a couple guys that are home every weekend and I'm OTR and haven't had a problem going home for 2 days every other week if that's what I want to do. Or 5 days after 4 weeks. It's definitely not a good company to be out 5 days and home 2 at though. Most of the time won't get the miles to make anything.
