Had a pain in the ### situation yesterday and needed my tandems in a hole to be legal. Needed to slide it one hole. But after 40 minutes of trying it either went no where or slid ten holes.

The lot was dirt and tires would drag instead of sliding. And yes the dang trailer brakes were set,I know some wise joker is gonna ask.

In the end I got it to 33980 on drives and trailer.

You can get pins to put in the holes in the front or back to act as stops.
Also you may want to keep wheel chocks for that purpose.

My method involves a lot of profanity and pacing back and forth up the length of the trailer until it's in the right hole.

Some drivers spray water on the slide or WD-40.

You have to find what name to call it...as in "you no good worthless ### #### mother ####### piece of worthless #### trailer, etc, etc." Once you call it by it's name, it will behave....:D

But seriously, @Chinatown hit it...lube the slide rail with WD40, penetrating spray or graphite spray, including in front and behind the slide chassis assembly. Then mark where you want the pins to end up. If they don't want to slide easy, find a curb or a deep hole, release the pins and slide back and forth to spread the lube, then set your pins where you marked. If the axles are still turning instead of sliding the assembly, your brakes may be out of adjustment, and need attention. My company has air assist pin actuators and a suspension gauge for the truck axles, so once I release my pins, I set my trailer by my truck axle weight reading, then release my trailer breaks and use the trailer brake arm to lock the pins into a hole. Once I release the pins, I don't have to get out again.

I have a hammer I keep in the truck that the head fits perfectly in the holes. (Don't use the handle, Don't ask.) Spray some lube of your choice and slide away.

If there's level ground that helps and also ask someone for help and doesn't have to be a driver either. You tell him what hole you want the pin in.Also make sure your Johnny bar isn't down that could have caused your trl tires to slide.
