I think the short order is
NOOOO
It's not a new way to hang sign.
We've all been seeing it for years. Even doing it ourselves.
Stepdecks aren't exactly accommodating like flats are. Companies don't provide an actual sign to install in the stake pockets. And loads don't always accommodate either. -
Pulled lots of step decks and never covered the lights and never had a problem hanging them.
