"The food + beverage shuffle"
You unload 18 tons, and what do you get?
Another day older and physical health in serious threat.
Yo' shorties will be able to wear the latest brand new clothes
But how long yo' body holds out........nobody knows....
You might be able to afford a brand new corvette
But yo' mental and physical health will be deeply in debt.
Nothing but steaks, caviar and cognac
But how you going to drive it with a broken back?

My thoughts regarding Minimum requirements for food/beverage:
1) Minimum $2000 gross per week. More if night time shifts are involved, more on this below:
2) Maximum 4 day work week. Maximum 50 hours. Higher pay if more than 4 days or 50 hours but these should be both optional and assigned according to seniority----ask the top guys first, then if no-one wants it, the bottom guy ("bottom bish") has to take it.
a) Weekends completely off, unless optional work is available. M-Th or Tue-Fri.
3) Overtime after 8 AND 40.
4) i would define night time shift as 3rd shift. For example, if you start at 4:30am and end at 3 or 4pm then that would not count as night time because the majority of the time was during the day.
5) equipment should be top quality and most efficient for food delivery----examples low deck trailers and ramps. If liftgates are used then they should be the fastest ones possible.
There are ways to hot rod a handtruck to make them most efficient, but most companies don't care. i may discuss this in another thread if there is time. -
Do lumpers have it any easier than food service guys? Of course no traffic
FlaSwampRat Thanks this.
